Ok guys, my local gun shop has the Remington R1, has anyone shot one yet. In the shop the thing feels good, and dry firing it the trigger seems good too. I am hoping that someone can lead me in the right direction.

Quack is the first one here to get one. I do not know if he has had a chance to shoot it yet or not. Bac just picked his up the other day and I pick mine up tomorrow. As for it being your first 1911, that is a decision you have to make. Not having shot one myself, but having some touchy-feely time with one, I was impressed enough to order one. I think it would make a great first 1911. The price is right.
There is also the nastalgic reason to own it. It has been 91 years since Remington has produced a 1911.

Quack has a pretty extensive review on here with TONS of pics. I also shot his out of the box before he installed the flat trigger, etc. I thought it was a great gun for the price (in my limited 1911 experience), but there are far more knowledgable people on here that that provide more detail on it.
Its a very nicely done 1911.
I have not shot mine yet, but every review I've seen has been positive. :)
it's a crappy gun

I think I will have to get one for sure.
That is a damn nice lookin' 1911. Too bad they went with a firing pin safety. My only complaint is the largeness of the rollmarks, but hey.
