Walmart.com

Acer 17in laptop with a P6000 CPU, 3GB of DDR3 SDRAM, 250GB HD, (WIN 7 64bit) new in the box for $499 with free shipping and if you use the Walmart credit card you get $20 off.
(I'm no fan of desktops, so I posted this laptop deal)

That computer isn't nearly as nice as the one he posted. I'd say it's a decent deal, not jaw dropping but if what you said was in it was correct then you're looking at a pretty good deal.

Intel Core 2 Quad CPU, Q8200 - 350 refurbished
500 GB HD depends on speed
4 GB RAM depends on speed
Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
ATI 4560 graphics card - 30 bucks?
Blu-ray player - 60 bucks maybe more depending on brand/speed

HP W2207h glossy flat-panel monitor - 280 new

maybe 150 for everything else not accounted for + ram and HD

total = 890

Check NewEgg and TigerDirect before you purchase used...

I don't really care for refurbished/used systems. No recourse when stuff breaks, and it will break... just a matter of time!

Home built with quality components can be done for what you are looking at there... Start with the barebones, and add to it.

Good luck with the decision!

What kind of warranty are they going to give you on the computer?

ETA ... do you really need a blue ray player on a desktop computer?

$600 is a lot of money to spend on used electronic equipment at a pawn shop.

Pawnshop = Lousy Computer Store...

They maybe gave up $150 for the beast... if that...

Pawnshop = Lousy Computer Store... I agree, for $50 - $75 more/less he can get a new computer that doesn't have Vista installed on it.

Keep an eye out for a good deal on computer(or anything else) on slickdeals.net. Very good website. You should be able to find a comparable deal on a new desktop pc.
