I have been waiting for the R1 1911 to come in for 2 months or so, finally got to look at one this week. I like the big sights, non-plastic trigger and MSH, and overall the only thing I noticed without stripping it was that the ejector was below flush w/the back of the slide. I was impressed for only $570 + tax.

The problem is I do not have unlimited funds, and the 1911s I already have:
-Delta elite, havn't fired yet
-Colt 1918, got because I liked the look and no other brand I know of makes one that looks just like it, I shoot it on rare occasions
-Kimber Ulta carry, which I'll sell when my Compact Stainless arrives
-Para 'GI Expert', which I hate because of the crappy customer service I gotr from them; runs and shoots good now & I figure I'm better off keeping it as a beater unless I could sell w/out taking a beating

I have decided rather than spending $1200+ on a TRP or something similar and still not get exactly what I want, I would rather save up the $2000+ (eventually) and get a Novak's or Nighthawk custom.
So convince me to get the Remington that I really like, or stop screwing around with low end guns, be patient, and save the money for something that is exactly what I want.

Sounds like you should save for what you really want. You already have a couple 1911's so they should hold you over until you can get what you really want.

That's a very hard question to answer.

Since you already have a slew of production 1911s, why not save up for something nicer?

That said, the Remington is a beautiful pistol.

I would say save for what you really want since you already have a few production 1911's.

If it were my money I'd save up and go for the Novak or comparable build.

Resistence is futile.

I have my 3rd 1911 (Wilson) from George on order now. $100 down on any order from Wilson, Nighthawk, Baer etc. and 1 year to pay off with no special charges. Great deal, great prices and a great guy to deal with. Send him a email with your dream build and he will give you a price quote.

I guess what I am saying is buy what you want and let price be a secondary factor. :)

Bac's photography makes any gun look like a million. I agree, you already have some run of the mill stuff. Ditch the Para and get what you really want. It's not like you don't have anything to shoot until you get it.

zhix I was in the same boat as you a couple of months ago, untill I learned about George and migunslingers.com. His layaway plan is the best I have found anywhere. I have 4 kids and and a household worth of bills so this is making it so much easier to for me to be able to afford my dream gun. The way I see it I can get the higher end guns this way(i am already thinking my next one is going to be a Les Baer Stinger) and then I can move on to more affordable guns that I have in mind. (thanks to back, jrs, and quack). If you are like me I hate saving up and this way I am committed since I already sent the down payment. I highly recommend migunslingers.I ordered a Wilson Professional like this one with some minor differences.
