Guys, just wanted to throw this out there. My sister (yes, my sister) just bought a new Ed Brown Kobra and after 8 rounds the gun literally seized up and the slide wouldn't move. The guys at the range said that once the slide cooled they were able to break it down - they said that it's too tight and that as it get's hot, it expands and literally locks up on the slide and won't move???

I told her it's not unusual to have a new 1911 with a few hiccups in the first few hundred rounds but have you all ever heard of anything like this? The guys at the range said that they had to send an Ed Brown Kobra Carry back to Ed Brown a few weeks ago for another gentlemen with the same issue...

Thanks guys for your help...

Good god they are retarded.

Send it back to Brown. No 1911 should lock up like described, EVER.

I imagine Brown will make it right. What you describe is not normal break in for a 1911. Good luck.

Sounds like typical "range genius advice". :shakehead:

Holy crap.....sounds like the Range Ninja's brain got too hot and locked up! As stated above, this is NOT normal and needs to be addressed by the manufacturer. Tell her to send it back to Brown....they will take care of it, I am sure.

I don't see complaints that often on Browns - but every manufacturer will have a problem every so often.

I will say that my Brown has been 100%.

Browns are known to have trouble with Gold dots sometimes too - mine works 100% with gold dot.

I want some of that ammo, anything that will overheat a 1911 in 8 rounds has got to be good stuff.

Just how hot can 8 rounds make a gun? Perhaps one should never fire more than six rounds during the same range trip.

Not sure about 8 but at around 48 the HK P7 PSP I had was freaking hot!

The only problem I have ever heard of from a Brown was when I was moonlighting in a gun shop in AK on the weekends.

The firing pin hole was off center. That was it. We sent it back to Brown and in 1 week we had a brand new KC in for the customer. No questions asked and they had given the customer a gift certificate on top of it.

That was 5+ years ago.
