Went to the range today with a friend . He just purchased a H&K (his first handgun) and wanted to go shoot together. He was ALL OVER the target at 7 yards. This is only the 3rd time he has ever shot a handgun. My only help advice I had was controlling the trigger pull. Any ideas would help. Is dry firing an H&K ok?

Yeah, it's okay to dry fire an HK. Does he know what to do when he dry fires???

Get an instructor. The money spent on training will be cheap compared to the ammo he'll spend trying to figger it out on his own. Shooting a pistol is 20% science, 80% art; and everyone's formula is a littel different. A professional instructor will be able to sort him out quick, probably be able to tell what he had for breakfast from the first group he shoots, and get him on target fast,

Dry fire repeatedly focusing on the front site and trigger pull. That is what we all should be doing frequently.

What HK Dan said. Doesn't have to be a professional trainer, just somebody that knows the mechanics of shooting and can pass them on to you and your friend.
