View Full Version : Commercial Ammo with Plated Bullets?
I want to shoot some plates at my local gun club but they require using lead or plated bullets. I don't reload and I own a Glock (no lead in the OEM barrel).
Do you guys know any commercial manufacturer of 9mm or 40 S&W ammo that uses plated bullets like the ones from Rainier or Berry's?
I appreciate you help.

I'm not 100% sure, but it looks to me like the Federal Champion stuff for sale at Wal-Mart is copper plated.

Thanks for the input guys.
BadAndy - I saw the Georgia Arms stuff but many of their bullets are described as Full Metal Jacket. Is the ammo they call Full Metal Case the plated stuff?

Thanks again.
Sorry about that...
I do believe GA uses FMJ but they're going to be almost identical to plated bullets. You should be fine using them. Is that your clubs exact rule? It doesn't make much sense to allow plated and lead but not FMJ.

The Speer Lawman is loaded with the TMJ bullet. Most of the CCI Blazers are loaded with the TMJ as well. Just check the box they will either say TMJ or FMJ. For you needs the TMJ is the one to go for. Plus the Lawman line matches up with the Speer Gold Dot.
Thanks again for all the help guys.
I was told via email by a tech for Federal that the Federal Champion Ammo sold at Walmart was plated as chemcmndr suspected. He also said that the American Eagle brand which is also made by them used Jacketed bullets.
Once again, I appreciate all the input.
