Everyone is aware, there's several other large forums out there dedicated to 1911s. I'm a member of just about all of them, but I find myself much more active on this sub forum than any of the others. There's probably a lot of reasons for this, but one big one I enjoy, is the fact that here there is one forum for 1911s, that's all of them. Not one for each manufacturer. I really feel like the setup used by the other forums dedicated to each builder separately, just breeds the fanboys and bashers into every single forum builder forum.

Here I think we have the best collection of objective individuals, good discussion & advice, fantastic pictures, and some hella nice pistols. Which is what it's all about.

Not much of a point here to say other than that...

Stay cool GlockTalk 1911 Forum.

Yeah, there's strong 1911 cross-pollination discussions here that really aren't that dynamic on other 1911 forums with brand specific sub-forums.

Having fun along the way seems to attract newbs and experts alike in the experience and opinion sharing process.

yep, main reason why i drive Subaru's is because i drive a LOT for work. when i got rid of it last year it had almost 180k miles on it in 5 years :wow:

It put down 329whp/315wtq (stock was ~145whp) after getting tuned when i arranged for Tim Bailey (PDX Tuning) to come out to tune a bunch of Subaru's.

I had one of these for about six years...

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2/Davis1950/Cars/CORVETTE-1991.jpg

Then I fell in love with Carroll Shelby's 1964 AC 289 FIA Cobra (hence my moniker "Cobra64") and built this 1964 FIA replica. Same paint colors Shelby got from Ford for the one raced (and crashed) at Sebring. It took a little over a year working every week-end and most evenings to get it done right. Some of these shots were taken in the gestation phase.

The first test drive was cold in the winter with no doors, windows, top, heater, or wifey to keep me warm.

(BTW, Cobras don't have tops, windows or heaters)

That's okay. Over on the "Exeter" site that must not be named, I'm on lots of ignore lists because I don't suck up to Sigs and the owner/operator.

Anyway, as you can tell, I love cars... real cars. Another motorhead buddy and I spent about seven months researching Cobra replicas. As it happened, I was 49 when I finished building it and if you're interested in a real piece of Americana based on an English car (AC Motors), I'd be glad to spend a few hours on the phone with you.

347 bhp (DYNOed at the wheels) in a 1,950 lb. car is lotsa fun.

I definitely think its the best 1911 forum on the web. Being that its part of GT, it will never had the widespread popularity of the other 1911 forums, but the folks here know its the best.

I'm not into the bike scene like I used to be, but I'll get another eventually. It will probably be a cruiser though.

I've owned about 10 sportbikes over the years and its time for something more comfortable.

Yeah, that doesn't look too comfortable (then again neither is a Cobra).

Anyway, since you have a James Bond car, why not take a look at a James Bond motorcycle. One of my neighbors is riding this R1200RT.

They're definitely cruisers. :)

That is common....not a lot of people post there.

The Mod just spanked me over there for answering a "I want Commander sized gun" question over there with advise about Colt, Kimber Pro, SA Champion, STI Ranger...ect.

Mod went on a rant about "true Commander's". Then he called me a liar.

Bac, I dug through some old photos and found a shot of my first BMW. It's a 1965-ish R50 boxer twin that I bought in 1969 to get me around campus at the University of Denver, and day trips into the Rockies with Karen when we were putting ourselves through school.

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2/Davis1950/Bikes/BMW1964-10006.jpg

The hole in the lower Wixom fairing was to accomadate the side-car that came with it from Germany. The previous owner sold the side car!

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2/Davis1950/Bikes/BMWSideCar.jpg

For those not familiar with BMW opposed twin boxer engines, here's a left side shot of the left cylinder of an R50 (with kick starter shown that's all you had i the stone age) and an animation.

That'd most likely be a Subaru. :)

The design makes a lot of sense with opposed mass. In the case of the BMW bike, lower center of gravity, but you give up deep cornering (I've scraped valve covers on all three of my BMWs).

Yup, those too. :)

The "original" '70s vintage Bugs are still made in South America. They were all over the place when I worked on a big IBM project in Brasil, Argentina, Venezuela and Mexico in the mid-1990s. That's all the taxis drove. No front passenger seat in any of 'em.

Okay, I'll get in on the car picture action too... Here's some that I've had over the years (probably last 10 years).

First up is a 5th Generation (1999) Honda Prelude. Really sweet car, probably one of the better handling FWD cars ever made in my opinion.
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t310/mba656/guns/Prelude-Angle.jpg
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t310/mba656/guns/Prelude-Side.jpg

Next up is a 2003 VW GTI 1.8T. Those familiar with VW's will now understand my screen name. AWP was the engine code in my car, and K03S is the Borg Warner turbo that was fitted to it. Cheesy, yes. Generic, yes. There. The secret is out. The car also had ECU tuning and coil-over suspension kit. It was fun, but too small for me, my full grown Labrador and friends, guns, stuff, etc.
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t310/mba656/guns/HPIM0146.jpg

Next is a 2004 Subaru WRX Wagon. Loved this car. I ran a 3" catless downpipe to a 3" exhaust, mated to Cobb Accessport Stage 2 programming. It was a lot of fun.
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t310/mba656/guns/Subaru_WRX_004.jpg

All of these are manual transmission cars - I'll row my own gears until they stop offering it.

My current vehicle is a 2005 Toyota Tacoma X-Runner, which I realized I have no pictures of :(

Here's my chocolate Lab though-
