So I'm looking to get into a 1911 for just another choice to carry when I don't feel like carrying anything else I have. I've always wanted a 1911 but didn't care for the large size or weight, so I've been looking at the smaller ones like the Colt Defender and Para Warthog (however I can't afford those)...

I happened across an ad for a "High Standard Crusader Compact", here's text for his ad "This is a compact Officer's model 1911. Shoots .45ACP, and has less than 500 rounds down range. It has been taken care of meticulously, and is cleaned regularly. Comes with two mags, a hard case, and a holster."

He's asking $350... pic's look clean with no obvious dings/dents/scratches

I've searched "high standard" on this sub-section and didn't find anything... what can you guys tell me about these 1911's and is it worth the money for a first 1911?

That is the exact same gun as the RIA Compact Tactical. It is made by RIA (ARMSCOR) despite what anyone will tell you. That is a good thing as they are warrantied by RIA.

350 is a dang good price. They usually go for 460'ish NIB.

Thanks guys... I'm going to get ahold of him and go check it out... anything inparticular (good or bad) to look for? I read the sticky about doing a safety check, anything else?

Great price.

I just paid $450 for mine with a KD holster, new slim DD grips, and 3 mags.

Will post pics tomorrow...
