There is no such thing. However, I have found the one gun besides a 1911 that can hold my interest. H&K 45. This one has had trigger work done on it by David Bowie, and is a very nice, crisp pull. I am able to shoot it as accuratley as I can some of my high end 1911s. It has more a tad more muzzle flip, but is still manageable. If you already have, 50 or so 1911s and want something with the familiar Browning controls and great ergonomics give this one a try. It wont replace the 1911 in my heart, or as my main carry gun. It will replace the 1911 as my truck and hunting gun (mainly because it is less expensive and I dont care if it get dinged up like I would my Nighthawk, ect.)

The only cons I can think of right now: I cant really shoot lead reloads in it because of polygonal barrel. Some claim you can but I dont want to try it.

Other than that the magazines are stupid expensive, about $55.

On the bright side, as soon as I get my Oakleys in that my sister got me for my birthday, Ill look like a young Denzel when I carry this gun around in a post-apocalyptic wasteland ruled by Gary Oldman.

I have owned both the HK45 and the HK45c....they are nice pistols, but I just can't warm up to the DA/SA trigger compared to the SA trigger system of the 1911 platform. The only poly framed 1911 I own is the Wilson Spec-Ops 9 and it is one of my favorites. It has been 100% reliable with anything I have fed it.....I like the capacity, also. :) Hk does make a quality pistol though, although I would not put them in the "beater" group...

That's a fine gun . . . however Kimber made a Polymer 1911 (with an aluminum substrate frame) that held 14 rounds. I had the stainless slide target sight version with 7 mags at one time.

Dont forget the Bul M5. I have shot the Officers size M5 and found it to be a very nicely built gun.

Like Dave said...Wilson SpecOps9, but they are close to $2k.

I love HKs too.

I have those Oakleys, this is the only pic I can find of them.

Neither can I which is why I can and will carry this cocked and locked and shoot it as such.

Agreed, although it is more "beater" than say a $2k to $3K 1911.

I really like that Wilson Spec Ops and it is on my short list to get before the chilrens come along to the BlayGlock household at which point I will not be able to buy any new guns for a while.

Im not prepared to drink the H&K kool-aid to the extent that the folks at hkpro are, I do not care for any of thier other models, even the p30. However, I do like this one.

drc how wide is the grip on the Spec Ops? Is it about like other 2011s or is it a tad more slim?

the grip on the Spec Ops seems to be a little thinner than a 2011. It is one heck of a gun! A friend got one a few months back and i went through 500 rounds of ammo and was wanting more!!
I love the HK45 as well. HK's are probably the best looking polymer gun, but there triggers do suck! I think with some trigger work and carrying C&L it would be alright though, however thats a pretty big gun for carry!

The only HK I currently own is a NP3+ P7M8, which in my opinion is one of the best engineered pistols of all time. The out of the box trigger kind of sucks, especially with the overtravel/reset, but I sent mine out to Bruce Gray and had him work his magic and install an overtravel stop on the trigger....it is pretty damn near perfect now. In regards to the SO9, I would say the grip is just a tad wider than the G19 ( I am not familiar with the 2011, so I cannot comment on that comparison). The grip length is also a little longer, but it conceals really well. I actually currently have it on me right now in a Nossar Valovak IWB....very comfortable rig. The SO9 has to be shot to be understood. It is not an inexpensive pistol, but I certainly do not have any buyers remorse with it.

Thanks for the info, that puts it in perspective. I will have to buy one probably sight unseen since I live in a geographical island. Not many good shops close.

Love the P2000. I had a USP compact and came close to getting one of those instead. Only polymer pistola I like better is the P30. Best grip on a polymer gun hands down IMHO. P2000 is a close 2nd.

I tried liking the p30 over the H&K 45 but I had to shift my grip a bit from what I was used to shooting (using my G19) or I would keep the slide from locking back. I just could not do it.

One of my pistol instructors has a P2000 and subsequently got a P30, and he prefers the P30 also. :)

I got my P2000 when the P30 was a prototype "P3000."

Early on, many joked that the grip looked like a "Spiderman pistol."

I can see how that would be a cause for frustration. My friend and his wife have a G22 & G23; both shot my P226 to slide lock and the slide did not lock back for that reason. At first they joked that Sigs were crap... until I asked them to empty a mag left handed. :tongueout:

I am so used to shooting the high handed thumbs forward grip and I do not care to make the change.

There's a thread about a guy spray painting his revolver with engine paint; so why not Krylon pink on plastic?

This was before the Series II guns came out.
This was around the early 2000's or so.
They were made by Bul in Israel, but marked as Kimbers.
They were only full sized guns. I believe there was a standard and a target version.

The 10 II I would assume was made here by Kimber.
