Slug weight is typically in ounces, and you will find them from 1oz up to 2oz magnums..

..assuming you are talking about 12 gauge..

1 oz = ~437.5 gr

I've seen 12 gauge as light as 7/8 ounce, never seen a 2 ounce. Who loads them?

7/8 ounce to 1 1/4 ounce are the ones I've seen in a 12 ga Foster or Brenneke slug.

I don't recall who made the 2oz...It's been a while, and they may not be in production any more, I'll dig around and find the answer for you guys...

I remember now that Dixie does have a slug that comes in at 870 grains, just a hair under 2 ounces.

7,000 grain = pound

437.5 grain = 1 ounce

A while back I had a slug (the lead part only - not a complete round)

Just holding it in my hand along side a complete cartridge of a 9MM & .45 ACP makes me understand why I never want to be on the other end of this monster.

If there is such a thing as a one shot stop - this has to be one of them.

One shot stops happen every now and again...there is no round that will guarantee one, except maybe a JDAM...I have need guys walk off .50BMG hits....I've seen a guy have his arm torm off by a 25mm hit and run away...

I am not disagreeing with you in any way -

But I think it matters how we define one shot and how we define stop.

I was thinking about the shot as a hit COM - and a stop = the person stops fighting.

How often does someone get hit COM with a .50BMG and keep fighting? Or Walk it off? :wow:

Sure it must have happened - 1 in 100? 1,000? 10,000? dunno:

The odds are against you BIG time.
