I laid in a small stock of P9HST2 while it was available, for carry use with my 19 and 26. Seems to work well in both guns and be a generally reliable round. Would like to chip away at putting up more carry stock, but now the P9HST2 supply seems to have dried up. So...

Should I experiment with the +P 147g HST?
Would it be better to look at 147g standard-load SXT?
Maybe someone knows where the P9HST2 is still available?
Thanks

Worry more about your skill level than which brand of ammo. They all work, diff are measured w/ calipers. FWIW, I perefer any 124gr+P load to most of the 147grJHP loads.

I can shoot fine with 147g and 115g standard load. Don't really notice much difference between the two, particularly at normal defensive range.

How much perceptual difference is there between 147g standard and 147g +P? Guess basically what I'm asking is, would it be better to keep the brand consistent and go with HST +P, or keep the load consistent and go with SXT standard?

When I get the cash to do so, I'll be ordering a couple hundred rounds of the 147gr+p HST.

I like the penetration and expansion of the standard pressure 147gr HST, but the +p loading should give it just a hair more, and that would put it in the ideal range for me.

IMO, 9mm needs +P help. Any add'l. recoil is negligeable. I would be fine w/ either.

Standard pressure HST 147 seems to have dried up.
I guess I am also going to pick up some +P.

Gold Dot 124+P is not available at my regular sources either.

Those are some pretty high prices at Ammo to Go.

sellforless on gunbroker currently $230/500 shipped beats $269+shipping.

I bought a "few" cases of GDs from them back when it was 1/2 the current cost. They are good to go.

I wouldn't hesitate to bring in some Ranger JHPs. Something else to consider: I am seeing more 147 FMJ on the market at reasonable prices (<$120/500). Win Super-X and even Ranger FMJ. Not only would it be good for you to practice with the same gr you carry, I believe 147 FMJ makes a very acceptable carry round should SHTF and hollow points become unavailable. Get your ammo inventory shaped up because, one of these days (lame duck congress perhaps?), the anti-gunners, who have failed miserably trying to outlaw guns, will wise up and go for the ammo. I am building a lifetime supply and if it turns out to be more than that, my heirs will be happy.

I picked some of the 147+p HST, they ran well in my Hi-Power. I have no doubt that a Glock'll eat 'em.

My Glocks work fine with HST.
