I decided I liked the looks of this Harrison Retro rear better than the 10-8, so I slid it on last night. I admit that I like the sight picture a tad better with the 10-8, but form won out over function this time.

Nice.

That's very similar to the rear sight on my Ted Yost retro. Looks almost identical.

That's because they are. :whistling:

Actually, not quite Jeff.

Mine are curved in at the top, while the other set has a sharper angle.

Maybe they're just modded differently. Does Harrison use the Yost sight or vice versa?

Well, they both claim to have designed the sight.

John does the retro sights for Heirloom. That doesn't mean the one on your 1911 wasn't machined by Ted himself but they are the same sight.

Gotcha.

On John's site, he has some angled and some curved. I think what happens is that Ted buys them from John in a raw state and finishes them.

Hey Bac, how do you like yours? I'm not sure if you would shoot that one you have (it's a little more of an investment than mine:whistling:).

My only complaint is that the notch is deeper than I would like. It's .135"x.135", I can see the top of the slide through the sight. I think .140"x.100" would be nice for a .125" front on a 5" gun.

It really doesn't bother me much though, I'll get used to it. This Colt is mostly on well loved beater status, because of the Series 80 stuff and it's dismal accuracy. It shoots good enough for IDPA and stuff like that, but not too hot past around 20 yards. (There is a L.B. PII in the mail right now though:cool:)

It takes some time to get used to. I've only shot the gun a hundred rounds or so. :)

I'm glad you shoot it. IMO, a gun should be enjoyed.

True, but I need to shoot it more. :)

I put another hundred rounds through mine yesterday. I like the rear sight just fine. Playin' around dryfiring is totally different than actually shooting.

I'm really starting to rethink the wide notch rear on everything though. The retro is a .135" and I shot just as fast with it as the .140's, .145's and .150's I have. The gold bead helps out a lot too.

Mine has the gold line instead.

I do like gold beads though as that's what's on my Liebenberg. :)

I'd like to try a line too. The stock sights on my H-Power were lines and they worked pretty good.

Here's my Liebenberg with the gold bead front sight. :)

Have the 10-8 U-Notch rear on my Springer Mil Spec and love it. Kinda interested in this one though. Where could I go to get one online?

I think Brownells has 'em. Or Google Harrison Design and consulting. I think.

Here's a couple of close-ups of my Springer with the Harrison rear and a white outline, trijicon front. I didn't think I would like it till I saw it up close. It provides a good sight picture.
