View Full Version : Metaloy Hardchrome Heirloom is done!!
I just got word from Chris Peters at Metaloy that my Heirloom Precision Gov't that I sent him is done. The picture looks incredible! I am really excited to get this bad boy back in my hands. I had him round the butt and add a gold bead front sight while he had it.

Congrats Dave! That's beautiful. Chris is the man. He does some awesome work. Since I'm back in NW Ark, I'll go ahead and swing by there and pick it up for ya and go take her for a spin. I'll see if that thing is ready for delivery.

Just remember, Joe.....I still will be the first one to have hands-on your No Name.....:) As for the VZ Frags....I don't know that I will keep them on the gun, although I really like the contrast with the Hardchrome and the Grey/Black grip. I like the Frags because they are about halfway between the thin grips and standard width grip. I have not made up my mind if they are/are not right for that pistol now.....I am leaning toward "are not". Easy enough fix, though...

That is a damn fine lookin' gun. Please tell me it doesn't have the flush cut, blunderbuss crowned barrel:shocked:
Now that's just plain purdy. I really dig the grips aswell, I need to find a set of those.

Dave, I like the grips, but I wouldn't keep them on a 1911 of that stature.
Its one of the best 1911s in the world and it screams for elegant and/or exotic wood grips, in my opinion.
My Morris will have these nicely machined grips.

They're Tulipwood thin grips from Ahrends.

I hear ya, Brian. I am going to have to look around for a very nice, unique set of presentation quality grips for the HP.

Although they aren't my thing, you may want to go with ivory or some other exotic material if you don't want wood.
Nice wood grips happen to be my favorite though. :)

I'm a stainless guy but HC is growing on me. Looks good man.

I was in the same boat. I am generally a black or blued finish kind of guy. When I was at Chris's shop (Metaloy) several weeks back, I saw Hardchrome up close and personal for the first time. I told him I would like more of the matted finish, but left it totally up to him as far as what he thought would work best for that pistol. I am glad I did that, as it looks like it came out really nice. I should have it tomorrow.

I've always preferred hard chrome. :)

That is crazy. :tongueout:
Seriously, I'd shoot it for sure, but probably wouldn't carry it since I already have my CCWs.

If it is a 1911 and it is reliable, it is subject to being carried if it is my collection. I don't own anything that I would consider to be a safe queen. I believe Steve Bailey (the builder) would say the same thing.....he builds them to be carried.

I've seen both Steve and Ted state this. Who says you can't look good while you carry eh?

I agree that it should be carried. I just said I wouldn't carry it. :)
I just tend to carry the same three pistols all the time, instead of rotating many of them.
I carry my Pro CDP II 80-90% of the time and my Glock 33 10-20% of the time.

My Kel Tec P3AT is pretty much with me all the time as a BUG. At times, when I can't really carry anything else, the P3AT is the only gun on me.

I would like to eventually carry my EGW.

Playing around with my new light box setup so I can finally learn how to take better quality pics. Still trying out some different camera settings, but here is a couple pictures I took of the HP. The Metaloy Hardchrome is flawless. I really need to do something about the grips, though....
