Ok, I've been a big fan of .357 SIG, whatever, not trying to start a big debate. However, not too long ago it didn't cost much more than .40 or .45. I just checked a few places and holy sheep, it's about the same price as .308!

What the heck is going on? Just no one buying it? Good thing the barrels can be swapped for .40 :crying:

Well, .357 SIG isn't as popular of a round as, say, the 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45, so I guess that might have something to play into the price of ammo. Which ammunition are you comparing? Last time I looked, a 50 round box of Winchester FMJ for .357 Sig was ~$23 and .45 ACP was ~$20. If you get into reloading, you can easily make a 50% savings on the cost of .357 SIG.

It's more like $32 now. How long ago did you see it for $23?? Or do you have dyslexia?

Like this: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/purchase/item-added.jsp?_requestid=332814 It's still more than 45 AUTO/40 S&W/9mm etc...

I'm real close to the one in KC Kansas, and I can check them out. Plus I have a coupon:cool:

Yeah, the last time I bought .357 SIG at Wal-Mart it was about $23 a box pre-tax and this was less than 6 months ago. I've been reloading the round for about the same amount of time so I haven't had much of a need to buy it in the store. The price could have gone up since then though.

This is what I am seeing. Natchez, Ammoman (who is never that cheap), AmmunitionToGo, etc, showing over $30 a box.

Bubbala, thanks for the link to the Georgia Arms canned heat, that seems more reasonable! (Although it's reman, right?)

Yes, I believe it is. However, their quality control seems to be very good. I haven't had any problems with the stuff. I use it for range ammo exclusively.

Here's another good reman option. Not sure about the .357 bullet but on the .45 and 9mm I bought, Dennis (owner) used Rainier TMJ which is nice if you shoot indoors.

So if it sells well jack up the price if it doesn't sell well jack up the price.

It pretty much comes down to the fact that the raw material costs are higher and it's a lower volume product.

Depends on what type of 357sig ammo your talking about and where your buying them. Premium LE ranger talons JHP's are the only over $30 i see online at ATG. You can get this same exact for $22.99 elsewhere online. I see two brands of FMJ target 50rd for under $20 at ATG. Palmetto's have target 357sig for $18.99. Ammo prices are all over the board. Example, my local gun shop has 40 and 9+p 25rd golden sabers for $34. I can buy the exact same for $15.95 all day long on the internet if i wanted them.... Maybe more detailed saying windchester white box 357sig fmj ammo is high price now. So is rem umc. IMO i consider both of these brands total junk. So thier prices don't matter much to me. There is better and cheaper priced 357sig ammo out there. Can't base all 357sig prices on the white box target stuff.

My local gunshop sells 50rd 357sig rem umc fmj for $25. Been the same since last fall.. Local walmart sells WWB FMJ for $28. That price did increase several times, last fall and again in april just like all the other caliber WWB have.......There are better prices and brands out there. Looks like WWB have had the largest increases in prices over the last year in all calibers ..So did rem umc but to a lesser extent.

Really, I do not think you can by better and cheaper practice 357 sig ammo than Georgia Arms. I think the last box of 50 I bought was $16.00 and there is volume discounts. We probably will not be seeing anymore Speer GD's from Georgia Arms in that Speer is not selling to other ammo manufacturers.
