Hi what 380 ammo do you use in your Ruger 380 LCP and why?

Sorry, I don't have a LCP but in my PPK/S I use either Winchester Silvertips or Buffalo Bore in 380 for S/D. The Silvertips are more comfortable to shoot for my old hands but the Buffallos are about the hottest out there.

In the plastic guns, look for a good warm FMJ load.

Mine liked Remington JHP, didn't like Corbon. About to sell it, picked up a PF-9 and it loves +p 9mm about the same size! Lot cheaper to shoot 9mm. All the 380 JHP I found seemed to be $1 a round!

Buffalo Bore 100gr hard-cast, I want all the penetration the little mouse gun can deliver.

In fact that is what I use in my PPK/S as well, for the same reason.

Corbon DPX or Horandy Critical Defense for my carry loads in my P3AT.

I reload Berry's Bullets 100g RN with HP-38 powder for my practice rounds. .380 ACP IMHO is about the most economically sensible round to reload yourself these days. It costs me about $110 to reload a thousand rounds in components (brass is free range pickups) plus about 3-4 hours of my time.

This.

102 grain and I saw some "unoffical" tests which showed this round as more than acceptable.

For FMJ I like the old spanish surplus Santa Barbara - real hot.

I alternate Federal Hydrashock with WWB Flat nose ball ammo.

Check out www.elsiepeaforum.com for more info on ballistic testing for LCP

I carry Corbon 90gr. JHP in my 3AT because they seem to be the ones with the most energy out of the JHP's. Some people have not had luck with the Corbon's in LCP's, which surprises me in that I found the LCP to be a copy of the 3AT with some refinements. However, in all of the articles I have read on the LCP, no one ever mentions that.

I tested a few rounds in my wife's P3AT a few weeks ago and found that none of the HPs I shot would expand in any of the test media. Wet newspaper, water jugs and/or oil jugs. This is a Magtech Guardian Gold 85gr +P bullet that I recovered after shooting it into one of the test mediums.

Exactly what I found in my testing too, Now I,m using Glaser fragmentation ammo, I understand its pretty wicked on tissue up close.

This is why I use Buffalo Bore 100gr. flat point solids (hard cast lead).

Just think how little penetration they would have, if they expanded .

Exactly. The FMJ loads are typically heavier than a JHP unless you count the 102gr Rem load-which is velocity challenged.

I tested several of these in water jugs and ended up with a bunch of these:

I do however use DPX now but I wouldn't have an issue going back to the Magtechs.

Very interesting. The box I fired was very weak feeling and had less recoil than the target ammo I was shooting. I "assumed" it was a weight issue but I guess its possible that I got a bad batch. We may have a few left, I'll try a mag of it next trip. For comparison purposes, my Makarov loaded with silverbear 95gr jhp and Hornady XTP expanded on all 3 shots I recovered through the same media as did PMC 9mm Starfire and Speer Gold Dot LE. 357sig.

FMJ flat nose in my LCP, you need all the penetration you can get in a .380 IMHO.

I have shot a range of ammo in the LCP and it liked them all ... even reloads. I have some .380 for sale on here that shows some of the brands I shot.
