Suggestions on gas piston upper?

Already own a stock AR-15, so I decided to do my own build after scoring some cheap parts:
Spikes lower-$78.00
DPMS LPK-$40.00
Magpul MOE-$56.00
DSA Mil-spec tube-$35.00

Looking to top my build off w/ gas piston upper. Want to see how cheap I can do this build. Would like to keep it $900.00 and under since I can get a new stag gas piston AR for around $1K. Cheapest I saw was CMMG for $650.00. Any tips from fellow GT'ers?

You can buy the Stag piston upper separately now for $779 at this website. http://ar15sa.fatcow.com/store/page2.html Its a $100 more but I personally like Stag better than CMMG just because of the Stag/CMT connection. (father and son)

I recently bought the complete rifle for $1075 from New Frontier Armory down the street from my house. They ordered it but I dont know if they got it directly from Stag or not?

By the way, i would switch out the DPMS LPK...

the trigger group is top notch, but the pins kinda have a tendency to suck.

Lol, I really need to unplug from the matrix and go shooting. I picked up 500 rounds for my Stag last week at the gun show so its time to go shooting on my next days off.

Not in my experience with 3 builds & many thousands of rounds.

OP, I have a POF upper on layaway. Not cheap, but I wanted a piston designed upper instead of a conversion based setup.

I saw the Osprey Gas Piston system at a gun show in Atlanta a few months ago. I've heard alot of good things about them. Midway sells them for $329 I believe. I'll be getting on for my Bushy Carbine in Oct.
