My eyes are on this ASUS UL30A 13.3-Inch SU7300 notebook with a free Asus USB DVD @ Amazon $599.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/?tag=shopguid0b-20&ie=UTF8&docId=1000529391

Or (upgrade to NVidia G210M Graphics & Bluetooth at $100 more)

What do you think of it?

Hummm, not a bad system. I like the screen resolution a lot and 4 gigs of RAM is nice. I have never heard of an 8 cell battery but I would imagine it would be heavy.
I can't find if you are paying extra for Kindle. I don't think reading books on a computer screen is the way to go and would not pay extra for that functionality.
NVidia graphics would be good if you are a gamer or an artist but it will use more power and so shorten battery life. Do you really need this graphics option? Only you can say but unless you are one of the above I would say no.
Bluetooth. I can't see the need but that's me. Again, it uses power.

All in all I think the laptop is a little pricey for what you are getting but slim, low weight and high screen rez do add a premium to any system cost.
Asus makes very good equipment.
Would I buy it?? I'm not sure. It is a tempting package.

If it's going to be your primary 'puter a 13" display will be not-fun-in-not-long.

I so disagree. If you are not playing games it's a great size.
Easy to transport and with the high rez screen this system has it should be very clear and crisp.

I don't play games and I find it not a great size, hi-rez or not.

Asus is the best brand for PCs IMO.
