View Full Version : Good Optic for AR
looking for a good optic for my AR. i've got experience w/ ACOGS and CCOs. but not trying to spend that much. any suggestions?
eo tech 512
I just bought a Lucid HD7 with 2x magnifier.
I am retired Army (Infantry) as of 1999 so I know my way around the M-16/AR-15 weapon family.
The Lucid was just $200 and I figured I was stupid of buying it but a good, knowledgeable friend urged me to try it.
I could not believe it. This is less than half the cost of an ACOG and it is every bit as good. It usesa double AA battery and no matter how many times I took it off the weapon, it held the zero
Google the sight and read some of the reviews and there are some video evaluations on YouTube.
This is actually break through technology and I wish Lucid all the luck in the world.
i say eo tech 512 because you don't want to spend a lot.
if you budget can spend more i would say aimpoint t1.
all thanks for the inputs. i will look into the lucid, never heard of that one but looks more in my current price range. i tested an eo tech several times last week. they were good optics, but my grouping was better w/ the cco's for some reason (probably cause i've shot w/ those more).
I can't use an eotech myself. If I have the glasses/contacts the reticle is 100 percent clear. Take them off and its a total blurr and useless for anything even semi precision.
If your looking for something cheap primaryarms.com has some great aimpoint clones for less than a hundred. I have about 700 rounds through my ar with it on there and havent had any problems and it holds its zero
I didn't go the ACOG route but did go the Accupoint route  .
Midway and optics planet usually have them for the least amount of money, around $780 for the 1-4x24 w/30mm tube and $680 for the 1" tube.
I have the TR24G(1-4x24 Green Triangle 30mm tube) on my MSAR STG-556.
I paid $850 for it since it was in town and I didn't have to wait for it and I really really fell in love with it. :hearts:
So whats a good price to pay for an eo tech 512?
I have a Millett DMS 1.5 - 4x10 with an illuminated reticle. It works great for me. I have shot it in one match so far and the reticle is really easy to see. Only draw back is it is a touch on the long side, but for my budget is was a great fit.
