I have an AR with an Ace skeleton stock. The sling attachment is at the front, near the trigger area.

Does anyone have this, and if so, what sling do you use? I've grown fond of the Viking VTAC sling, but I emailed the company about the VTAC for this application and they said it was not advised -- the sling might interfere with the charging handle. But maybe that's true for any sling that attaches there?

I don't have a lot of experience in this area: what's the value-add of a butt-stock with a front sling attachment? Is that mostly for one-point slings? Maybe I'm better off just getting a standard butt-stock?

Insights from more experienced people would be appreciated!

You could probably rig up a decent attachment for the VTAC at the rear with a blueforcegear small sling cable attachment
http://www.blueforcegear.com/product.cfm?type=cat&cat_id=5&prod_id=81
or with one of the inexpensive israeli velcro on d-ring mounts
or even tying on the D-ring strap of the $6 m249/top carry mount sling mount

...heck I'll admit to the pure bubba'dness of using paracord for a rear sling attachment before.

...or even use Viking's own product, maybe:
