View Full Version : How much time do I have left?
Wake County Glockman
I have a G22 2nd gen purchased used in 2003 it passes the recoil spring test but only after it is almost leveled off to about 45 degrees. (sitting in a chair pistol waist high pointing at ceiling comming down to where the wall starts the wall is 8 feet) About how much time do I have left till I need to replace guide rod assembly?
My good friend Frank Dinuzzo was the lead Glock factory instructor for many, many years. In his words...... "This test is good business for Glock Inc, it has caused the early retirement of many perfectly good recoil springs."
If you want to play it overly safe, replace the recoil spring every 1500 rounds, or every year, or every time it fails this test, or whatever makes you feel good. The truth of the matter is you do not have to replace it until it starts showing signs of failure. The spring will not simply "quit working" one day. You will notice feed issues long before any real failures pop up.
