I took my Marlin xl7 to the local smith to have a Kahles Helia CL mounted. The rifle came with bases so we tried to make those work. Anyway, the scope mounted fine but when we went to bore site, he cranked the windage all the way to the right and it still wasn't far enough to center. So we're ordering Leupold bases that will allow the scope to be adjusted. Just to note, don't bother with the provided bases - the Marlin website has a list of bases for their rifles.

So when I got home I tried to turn the windage back to the left some - and it was very difficult to move. When I did get it to move, there is no click, the reticle doesn't move and the screw that holds the adjustment tab comes loose. Seems like something has "sprung". Anyone know what has really happened and how to fix?

Sounds like it has been overdriven you will have to send it back to the manufacturer to have it redone.
