Not yet but since NC opened up all calibers for hunting deer this year I just might take one with it.

Just built an AR15 for deer hunting.

.223 not legal here in VA for deer hunting, so I went with a wild cat .25-223. Fun working up some loads for it. Will be my 11 year old daughters deer rifle.

Just completed my Oly Arm 10mm AR for deer hunting this season.

Not 223 though. Just use my 10mm with 60 yards

Got a good friend who property backs to 1500 public trust acres near Snohomish, WA.

Rural farm country but the 1500 acres is heavily wooded. Lots of vegetation.

Any tips for hunting deer there.

223 can only be used on the smallest of sqealers. 50 pounders. Their breastplates and skin are extremely thick and durable.

A larger diameter bullet or a higher power rifle caliber is needed to humanely drop and kill a larger 120-160 pound hog without having to run up a tree yourself.

223 should piss them off enough to start rearing the nostrils up and trying to smell you and charge you.

Go bigger for hogs. In Washington, 223 is not sufficient to hunt deer.

Ar10 advice is a little different than say bow hunting. If your ar10 is like mine - set up some place where you can see the farthest.

Good luck.

I perfer a bullet over 100 grains for deer or hogs. But each to his own and good luck.
