I know 1911 guys don't consider doublestacks as 1911 and all that.My question is this:Local gunshop has a used Para P14 2 tone green/black. Are they reliable? Anyone have any experience with these guns? Anything specific I should check for? I can get it for $350. Thanks
I don't like the quality of Para, but most full size models have been reliable, including mine.

is it at B&J on central in Albany? I have a P12 and it has been flawless.
i am not a fan of Para either, but 350 sounds like a real good deal. My experiences were all pretty bad. Mine worked well enough but didnt like how they were put together
didn't care for my Para double stack as the others have mentioned. also the grip is pretty blocky compared to a 2011. for $350 it's a good price if you want to try a Para, but i'd still personally pass on it.

For 350 I would buy it. I had a Para and it never gave me a problem. The only reason I sold it was because I didn't really like the grip.

For $350, I'd buy it and see what I thought. At that price, you can't go wrong and I would imagine you could always get your money back out of it, if not make some money on it. I say if you like it, then go for it.

Thanks guys. I guess ill buy it and we'll see what happens. Grip fits my hand, I was worried about reliability. It has holster wear so ill be refinishing it and swapping out any parts if needed.
Not for love or money,I love the Idea of a DS 1911,Para just ain't it.'08. ymmv.

i have a custom P14 that I sank a lot of money into replacing just about everything except the frame. I did it because that is what I wanted, not because of any issues with the Para. It ran like a top. You could say I just customized it.
Does anyone have an update on Para - solvency, quality and so forth? They were a Canadian company that imported through Fort Lauderdale, now they're in North Carolina. Why?

Are they better or worse compared to Taurus when it comes to quality? Btw Im bringing it home wednesday.
i would say that they are about the same quality as Taurus. With a slight edge going to Para
For $350 I'd buy it, gut it and replace nearly every small part and probably have a nice shooting double stack.
