View Full Version : good price on a TRP?
i have been waiting for my dealer to get me one. today i found a new one for 1290 plus tax and fees. it was the black without a rail. is this a pretty good price? i called my dealer and she said to go get it as they wouldnt be able to match this price so for now i have to assume its a good price. thanks
That's a very good price these days for the Armory Kote TRP.

holy fast reply batman:supergrin:
thanks . while i have you what do you think about the railed verse non-railed? i was really wanting the railed version but after holding the non-railed today i think i like it better. also do you know the difference between the the two. i know the railed has an adjustiable rear sight. which i dont think i really like the way it looks. it also looks like it would shread my side if i were to carry it. i think the railed also comes with a bull barrel.

I don't like railed 1911's I guess they have there place but not for me at this point.
he doesn't like rails.
that said, i prefer the non-railed TRP. If the railed TRP had fixed sights and a bushing barrel, then i would get it.
I don't buy any railed 1911s.
Yes, the railed model has the bull barrel.
so is the railed more of a target pistol? adj. sights and bull barrel.
There are two truisms in my life.
Professionally: If it has propellers, it belongs in the water.
Avocationally: Rails belong under locomotives, not 1911s.
great price on a AK TRP, i would definitely jump.

I wouldn't necesarily say that.
TRPs are all duty guns, in my opinion.

rails belong on glocks. there's not much else you can do to make them any uglier.

My has had alot of use, an excellent pistol.
picked it up today. but guess what the saftey is missing on the right side. i still took it as i know SA should hook me up and i got it out the door for the price i was willing to pay before taxes and fees.
is it missing, or was there a single safety installed?
also how can it be missing since the right side safety is held captive by the grip panel?

the pic on SA shows one installed and there is a hole in the side of the frame on my gun. i guess this could be normal as this is my first 1911 and i dont know much about them.

the prior owner could've swapped it out and installed a single-sided thumb safety. But the new TS should have plugged the hole up and there shouldn't be any visible "hole" present. If there's a cavity then the right side ambi safety is missing.

this is a new gun. still in the box with the tags on it. it was brought into the shop a few weeks ago. they had a springfield day last month. when i asked about it being missing he said what would we do with it. i told him i wasnt saying they took it out but just that its missing. then he said that maybe this model didnt come with it but i thought it was odd to have a 1300 gun with a hole in the frame. i really dont care if it isnt suppose to be there as i would probably never use it but i dont like the hole.
Don't remove the tags and call Springfield
You bought a new gun with a missing part?
At this point, I'd call Sprinfield.

gotta forgive the Kimber folks, they seem to be a little slow

i was kinda certain it should have the ambi but when he said it didnt i thought it would at least have had a plug in it. so yes i bought it anyway just assuming that sa would fix it after reading all the good things about there cust service.
do any of you guys think i should take it back? from what i am told they are hard to come by and really didnt think it was to big a deal. i didnt want to hold of waiting on another at this price. i do find it odd to have a part missing on a 1300 gun. thanks

i had alot of people tell me to go with a kimber. i think i made the right choice.
just call springfield, they may just send you the right side part.

Yeah, all the TRPs come standard with the ambi.

Railed guns make little if any difference with a good holster. However, if you aren't using the 1911 as a Home Defense platform then there's no need for a rail.
do any of you guys know if the mags that you can buy from SA with the coupon that comes with the gun are good to go?
yep, they work well.
as a side note, they don't have base pads, but you can buy those from Brownell's

i was looking at the 7 rounders which i assume are the ones that came with the gun minus the pads. i think they are like 12$ each. but was also curious about the 8 and 10 rounders maybe as backups or for range shooting. any thoughts?
they were $10.
don't kwow about 8rd mags, i've only used 8rd Wilson ETM's.
Never used 10rd .45 mags.
CMC or Wilson for 8 round OR 10rdrs.... they both work really well.
just printed out my return label and going to drop it of at fed-ex. i will let you guys know how i make out and post some pics when i get it back. thanks for all the help.
