jrs93accord (http://www.glocktalk.com/forums/member.php?u=47828)-The fourth pic down you posted-which model is that? Reminds me of a Colt Combat Commander. I like it! But, I saw this statement on Bud's and wasn't too turned on by it...
"Kimber aluminum frames have been tested to over 20,000 rounds without evidence of meaningful wear."
20K rounds? It would take me a long time to go through that many but something about that statement bothered me.

It is a customized Custom II that was inspired by the MEUSOC 1911. The grips are one of ten sets made by VZ Grips. The previous owner had the mods done. I have thought about having a Dawson rail installed, but not totally sold on the idea just yet.

Ive had am Eclipse, TLE, and Warrior in the past. I now have a Series I Custom Compact. He can count me among those who like Kimber if they are under the price of what I can get a Baer for.
I'm totally blown away at the cost of 1911's these days. The last one I bought was about $450...a SA model if I recall. My first, a Colt Mk IV Series 70 was $159.95. Yep, I know, that was decades ago, along about 1973. Most I've looked at today are in the average range of $1100-1800 now be it Colt or Kimber. I just can't go there.

It is an Ultra Tactical. I do not mind the officer-sized 1911s. There is a little more recoil to them, but not a concernable amount. The Ultra Tactical is a nice pistol to have.

I only have one, in stainless. I have had it for years and I bought it used originally.
Contrary to testaments in GT, I have NEVER had a single issue of any kind. I have shot WWB and Wolf without a single problem. I usually shoot 300 to 400 rounds for each trip to the range.

It is reliable and accurate. I wouldn't hesitate to trust my life to it.
I will not debate it's qualities.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a172/shays4me/shared/100_1832.jpg
Here's my one and only Kimber. It is a Custome TLE II. The only changes I've made is I replaced the factory grips with VZ's and replaced the plastic MSH with a Kimber metal magwell/MSH.
So far it's been less than 100% reliable, but I'm just now nearing the end of the Kimber recommended "break-in", so hopefully things will work themselves out. Reliability has steadily increased the last few times I've shot it, so I'm cautiously optimistic about it.

they seem like the "Caddy" of 1911's and people buy them because of it.

Absolutely love my Pro Carry 1! Haven't ever had any issues FTF, FTE, etc. and have put lots of rounds of expensive ammo, cheap steel case ammo, and reloads. It's also one of the most accurate handguns I've ever had the pleasure of owning and shooting.
