View Full Version : 1911 Value question
I have seen a few links that only give the number of a particular model made, what I am looking for is a guesstimate of what this may be worth in good condition. It is a Colt 1911A1 Government model with the serial number 1467485 Anyone help me out with this?
retail less %20-25
For an old Colt from the early 1900's? Still has the leather holster with it. Hmmm
I have a 2007 Toyota in good condition. What is it worth?
You are going to have to provide a lot more information. Close clear pictures of the gun showing all markings in detail will be best.
That serial number is in the 1943 Ithaca range, so you probably have what is known as a "mixmaster" with a Colt slide on an Ithaca receiver.
1943 1441431-1471430 Ithaca 30,000
If it is the result of an Army arsenal overhaul, properly marked and inspected, it is still a legitimate USGI service pistol. Dollar value depends on condition. If you read the definition of "NRA Good", it does not get you a really nice gun. So show us what you really have.
You're right Jim, apologies. A friend brought it over to me, he is thinking about buying it. I don't have any pics just yet, still waiting on them. It seems to have some modifications, such as different panels (no diamonds) aftermarket adjustable sights with a very tall front post, and not sure about the MSH, it is cross faced and not vertical, and has a swell to it. I will try to get a few shots of it and post them up.
Check that, I looked up some pics and the panels appear to be stock. Still looking for additional info and pics. The MSH looks stock too.
It looks a lot like this one
aftermarket adjustable sights with a very tall front post,
Unless it is a military match model, properly configured and and marked, that pretty well eliminates any collector interest. Resale value of a second hand gun of a few hundred bucks.
It has an initialed stamp at 2 o'clock just outside the triggerwell that reads FJA, not sure if that means anything. Checking on the slide info, not sure if it is marked Ithaca, NY or not.
Slide is Colt, doesn't say Ithaca on it...just heard back. No markings that detail if it is Military Match. He offered the guy $250 for it.
If the slide says Colt, then it is a Colt. If it were Ithaca, it would be marked so.
The RECEIVER is in the Ithaca serial number block and FJA is Frank J. Atwood, chief inspector for Ithaca (and Remington Rand), not Colt.
Even a mixmaster with aftermarket sights is worth more than $250 if in sound condition, true NRA Very Good or better.
Thanks for your insight Jim, much appreciated.
