I recently aquired this Winchester model 12. Manufactured 1946. It was a real beater, the stock was beat to heck, and the plastic butt plate, while in good shape shrunk badly. The Winchester sported a barrel approximately 27" with a Weaver compensator that has four interchangable chokes.
I disassembled the entire model 12. It was so dirty, full of gunk, and grime. A can of Gun Scrubber, and G96 oil everything came out perfect. I sanded the stock down to fit the butt plate, refinished it with stain, and Tung Oil. The barrel was cut down to 18.25", the crown, and brass bead was done by Mag-Na-Port.

I have a model 12 manufactured in 1958 -

You most likely already know this - :dunno:

You can pull the trigger once - then just hold it back - and pump the action - and it will fire the gun as soon as the action is closed.

Not that this would be a good SD technique - but it is still fun to do once in a while.

Since your in Michigan, if you ever to get over to "Right" side of the state around Ludington, bring that with you and we will make the official presentation of the award on the range with some 00 buck shreading some targets.

Great old shotgun! Pride and craftsmanship were key ingredients then.

I would love to buy something like that for my Father... He has similarly restored some ol' model 97' Winchesters years ago, but some health issue don't really allow this much anymore... That a nice piece of our history, that's something to be proud of...
