They allow you to turn the nut by hand. I actually prefer the wing nut rather then the knob. You can paint one wing and have a better pointer. Pointer makes a great reference for getting things back to the same spot. You can get them at HOME DEPOT.

They vary from area to area as to what they carry. I can find the black and white at Home Depot and nothing at all at my Lowes.
Try ACE and other Hardware Stores for these things as well.

I get them at ace for a little over a buck each.
It is indeed blue and sitting on my desk. Bad me.

The Home Depot where I got mine also had the round knobs in red.
Only some fraction of Home Depot's seem to carry these things...so don't be surprised if you can't find them at your nearest one...and hopefully you have several not too far away.

No worries Mike, are you gonna shoot the "low light" match on the 13th. I'm planning on comming up for that one. Talked to Victor about it via the NWPPA IDPA forum... PM sent.
What area of Home Depot/Lowes are they found in? I'm going to stop by and pick one up for my 550 this weekend.

Knob section. Right next to the isle the keep the 2X4 stretchers on. :whistling:
Then again some stores may have them on display in the cabinet handles and hardware section.

I would like to know also. Found XDRoX Chritmas present.
IIRC, it's the aisle with specialty fasteners in drawers or bins. Not all Home Depot's stock them though.
Local hardware store for mine.

You could just keep a 7/16ths wrench on a nail on the side of your bench. I have an old cheap one that I had ground down to fit on a something-or-other back in the day.

That's a perfectly good option. I've also used a large wire nut (paint a mark on one of the grooves to index it). I also found that a 7/16" socket works just great for fingertip adjustments. I have some of the knobs; but they aren't the only option.
