I know that Glock wants to use the same spring in all of the hi cap mags to simplify inventory and manufacturing, but that caused the "spring fold-over" problem. So then they had to make those spring guide things which by the way, they don't make anymore according to Ben at Glockmeister. Seems like kind of a "band-aid" approach when what is needed is a spring that just fits right.

I know that Glock won't do it, but why doesn't one of the replacement spring companies make one? I asked Wolff about it and they said there was no need for it.

I think there is a need for it because it would be the right way to do it (instead of the "band-aid" way) and also, they would be more reliable in not only the stock 13 rounder, but also if you use a +2 or larger extended base.

durajeff: You're exactly right. When Gram's designed a +5 for the G21 mags, he redesigned the follower and spring. I've spoken with folks at Wolff and got the same response that you did. Have also spoken with Kevin (Keven?) Tenny at THE Accessories about the same problem. He's supposed to be working on +5's for the G20/G21's and I believe he'll get much better function with a wider spring made of heavier-gauge wire than the standard Glock springs.

WalterGA - Thanks for your reply.

I have a Grams +5 and I hadn't noticed that the spring was wider until you mentioned it and I took it apart to look. I think I'll check and see if he will sell those separately.

I guess that the extended base market is the only place where people are concerned about the spring because that's where it becomes obvious that it is just not right. It would be nice to get the right springs because the extended mags are so great for range work.

I'm hoping that Dawson comes out with an extended base for the 21. Have you seen the ones they make for the 9mm and .40? Those are really nicely done.
