Slide release during speed reloads?

Hello,

I'm Bobby and brand new to the forum and looking forward to great advice.

I have heard that the slides on glock pistols are not supposed to be released via the slide lock/release lever. Instead the slide should be pulled back all the way and release forward, chambering the round. Is this accurate? If so, what are the negative consequences of using a slide release? Glock Inc recommends the "sling shot" method such as you have described however there is nothing wrong with using the slide stop lever.
FYI: The standard slide stop lever is small. This makes it difficult for most shooters to use (as a slide release). If you have this problem you may consider installing the extended version. See the LWD extended slide stop here http://www.lonewolfdist.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=7373&TERM=lwd-74
