View Full Version : .357 and 9mm bullets..?
Forgive Me if this has been asked a bazillion times already... In a reloading scenario, can the 9mm/.355" and .357" bullets be used interchangebly in a 357 revolver and a 9mm semi-auto... In other words can I buy one type of 125 grain bullet to reload for a .357 and a 9mm... Thanks in advance...
There have been several threads on this recently, a search should turn them up.
I've used .356" jacketed and plated bullets in both calibers during the great ammo shortage of '08-'09 with acceptable results, but there are issues, there's no cannalure (crimp groove) on 9mm bullets, so you can't load max magnum rounds with them, and .357" jacketed bullets may not be safe in your 9mm or feed well for that matter.
You're going to want a separate bullet for each caliber.
As Hammer notes, it could be done, but it will be a compromise for one bore size or the other. Accuracy w/ undersized bullets will suffer. OVerrsize bullets may not chamber & you can run into pressure problems.
