No doubt it was Colt, but I'm going to ask anyways.

Who was the first 1911 manufacturer to start lowering the ejection port on their production pistols & making it standard? When did they start doing this?

I'm guessing the first commercial manufacturer to do it was Kimber. Many custom builders before that though.

Colt Gold Cups were lowered and flared in the 60's.

I have a shooting friend that has a mid range gun from the 60's that is lowered and flared.

I think my dad's Officer from the early 80's was too.
