Great time indeed!

I really like the look of that ML.

How about some of the particulars ( I don't ML hunt but did make a 100% on my hunter safety course). What was the distance? Load, etc?

I shoot a Knight Wolverine. BSA Deer hunter scope. 100 gr's of Jim Shockys Gold. Hornady Sabots. Scope is sighted in at 2 in's high at 50 and dead center at 100 and about an inch low at 150. I havent killed a deer with it yet but my brother killed his first buck with it. Hit him in his spine and droped him.

Here are the details as I remember. I was in a stand over looking a food plot that the land owner had seeded in late summer. At about 1:30 p.m. I was thinking about changing stands and I was going at 2:00. About 1:58 I looked over to the far side as this deer came out of the woods. With four trees in my line of sight, I waited around fifteen or so minutes for a shot. Its was at forty yards with 100 grains of Pyrodex and a T/C 240 gr. XTP bullet. The deer dropped where I shot it. I got a call tonight to go pick it up from the processer. Chili is on the menu for this weekend. I plan to take one or two more. My second is planned for my Ruger .44 mag.

purffect and you can't go wrong with the 240gr xtp bullet on deer.

Out of your ruger handgun, the same bullet should be almost as fast and as powerfull as the mzl'er load. You should do great.

I have not decided on what I will shoot with my .44 mag. I have some factory ammo and three different reloads to choose from. I started reloading almost two years ago and perfected three different reloads. They are loaded with bullets weighing at 240 grs, Winchester LP primers and three different powders. Modern gun opens on the twentieth and I will be ready. A fifth reload is available too. They were reloaded by my dad in the early seventies, and are hammerheads. My brother and I took two a piece in 2009 and shot them. He has been gone ten years now and I think about using one just for this upcoming hunt.

Now go do it with a Flintlock with iron sites and I will be impressed.

LOL. That is nerve racking hunting. Not the hunting... Just waiting for the damn rifle to finally fire.

Click...(you pull the trigger) Snap....(hammer drops) and wait,,,, wait,,, wait for it.... Bang... the charge finally ignites and fires the gun. I know it takes less than 1/2 second but when you are aiming at a deer and used to modern rifles it seems like an eternity.

Yep, neck shot too... A projectile through the neck lays'em to the bone every time...
