really want a lb stinger. and a trs. but i also would like to buy a sa mil-spec and send to wilsons for reliability work; trigger job, bulletproof parts, front strap serrations, etc. don't care for slide tightening, 1 in accuracy, beavertail (don't suffer from slide bite). combat accuracy is all i'm interested in. i like the traditional look. even the hammer spur and small sights. folks show their semicustoms and they look real nice. beautiful in somecases. especially bac's traditional guns. but the cbobs, fcs, etc, just ain't for me. i think i could come out cheaper the mil-spec way.

as soon as my health probs are out of the way, i'm buying something. SOMETHING.

You could go the Mil-Spec way and send it to Berryhill Customs (http://www.berryhillguns.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=4&Itemid=3) and still have the traditional look.

Bear TRS or GTHO. Why have just "combat accuracy" when you can have bullseye accuracy without sacrificing reliability.

You can always buy a bunch of ubercool aftermarket stuff, have it stipled, and make it tacticool. :tongueout:

Springfield Mil-spec + Springfield Custom Shop? You won't be disappointed.

Not taking away from Wilson or Les Baer either. You won't hang your head no matter what you choose here, just throwing out another opton.

+1. Might to that with my SA Mil-Spec.

the reason i say combat accuracy is because i seldom target shoot anymore. for the last few yrs i've practiced firing from 10 to 15 yrds as fast as i can obtain a flash sight picture. and i'm getting pretty good at keeping everything in the chest area. those that don't tend to rise up in the neck/head area. don't get me wrong. i'm no dead eye by any means but point shooting under stress makes sense to me. when i do target shoot it's at 25 yrds, and if you give me 25 yrds, well, i'm gonna RUN.:embarassed:

You can get a Milspec customized and end up with a $1500 springfield, but it ain't a Les Baer

didn't think of that. great idea. i've only had one pistol worked on by a gunsmith. a bhp by novaks. i'm admittedly a little unknowledgable in the custom work world. thanks. i think you've made my mind up. outbygodstanding!

you're killing me. i really try not to throw off on others firearms. they like em' and thats all that matters. but some of the pics i see on gng are halarious. i didn't think you could do anything to one of the most unattractive pistols made, but somehow they manage. that said, i like my glocks. not in an asthetic kind of way, but you know.

Or just get a TRP. :dunno:

I kid, I kid. I honestly do like Glocks for what they are. I just don't see a need to trick them out. If someone has a personal preferance for ANY firearm or aftermarket accessories, that's cool. I have no opinion either way, except when it comes to my firearms.

off the top of my head:
1) tight frame to slide
2) fit barrel to slide
3) fit bushing to slide and barrel
4) Novak cut front sight
5) undercut trigger guard
6) fit beavertail
7) beadblast

Maybe
8) 30lpi fsc

What would that run with them? Just curious because I know very little about SA's and their Custom Shop. Wandering if that is what someone said earlier about a $1,500 SA Milspec vs say a DW Valor.

just added up the prices of what i want from SA's custom shop and with the pistol it comes up to 1320. 4in gi champ. someones gonna say why not spend a few hundred more and get a trp or trs, but i like that traditional look. i'm gonna do a LB something or another soon i hope, but even it's gonna be bare bones.

Just remember that a custom job will lose you money in resale value.
A $400 gun + $1500 customizing DOES NOT equal a $1900 gun. Much better off buying a semi-custom to begin with.

no doubt, you're exactly right. IF you're going to sell it. and i ain't. unless i'm about to lose my house. (and i don't know if even then)

1) tight frame to slide = $190
2) fit barrel to slide = $290
3) fit bushing to slide and barrel = included in #2
4) Novak cut front sight = $55 + gold front sight $80
5) undercut trigger guard = $75
6) fit beavertail = $100
7) beadblast = $100

Maybe
8) 30lpi fsc = $140

9) SS Mil-Spec = $700

$1730 total. + $100 shipping...

Go with a Mil-Spec to start.

So that's like TRS money, or Valor (+$2-300), etc. How would that work compare to those?

I would just get one of the C&S tricked out milspecs then..

Yes, it's 6 one way and 1/2 a dozen another. If compare to the Valor, it would be similar to a SS Valor, as the Duty treated Valor is around $2K. While the Valor has complete tool steel internals, my custom would have a few MIM parts. Not a big deal to me.

But if I'm in the $2K ballpark, I'm going to add a few more hundo and get a Wilson or Brown.

Trust me a SA custom shop gun will be far and above a TRP. I've owned both and still own the Custom shop gun. Doesn't even come close.
