I am cleaning up the reloading room to make room for a second press. I realized I am down to 6K primers. Past time to order more. Does anyone know of a sale or good prices right now?

Yeah, whats this second press talk. I have been so preoccupied lately. Did you order something as well? Or did you already get something and my brain is just mush lately.

I thought I saw that Graf's has 10.00 Hazmat fee when you purchase primers by the case

Yea I ordered a lnl AP to go with my 550.
Note to Dillon My choice was decided by caliber conversion cost. Had they been close I would have bought the 650.

Did you go all out Mike?! Casefeeder on it's way to? I put myself on the list at Manventure.... they have the 5% off thing right now.... but don't know it it will come in by then.

I ordered 10K Wolf/Tula a while back from Wideners at $18 a K, but just recenlty tagged another order in with a guy for Federal SPP from Powder Valley.

It would seem that a lot of people are rushing to jump on the bandwagon all of a sudden. Here, let me make you a little more comfortable.

Seventy six trombones led the big parade, a hundred and ten cornets close at hand...

Okay, everybody now.

Seventy six trombones led the... I don't hear anyone singing. Slugs.

Same for me. I resented but tolerated paying the cost for the 550 conversions. 650 conversion are just too much in my book. You pay more for the LnL casefeeder but it comes with all the stuff to do future conversions so the cost is more in line then some people will lead you to believe.

Powder Valley just sent me 20K Federals.

650 conversion are just too much in my book.

You should have got that 1050, then you might have a ***** when it comes to the cost of conversions...

Powder valley, Graf's and Wideners all have different prices but the grand total is within $1.00

I still have primers on order from the spring. :crying: I must say it is a good feeling to see a fedex conformation of shipping for the ones I just ordered. That should safely put back to a two year supply.

I finally got the call from Grafs that the cases of CCI LPP and SPP I ordered back in the beginning of May 2010 are ready for shipment...and do I still want them?

Are you kidding? I want those and 8lbs of WST please. Gotta take advantage of the reduced Hazmat charge...and I think WST is going to end up my main pistol powder.

Just a personal experience note on Wolf primers. Several months ago I got 20K Wolf SP and Large primers when they were $18 per thousand.

Obviously I haven't loaded them all but have gone through enough to give me a pretty good idea of what to expect. They've been shot in a variety of guns; Kimber, Colt Commander, Springfield competition .45, and various .38 revolvers. (N o Glocks... my one and only sits in the safe gathering dust.)

To date I've had two failures to fire on first strike. Both were through my buddy's Springfield and both were out of the first 100 I loaded on the new 1050. They both fired on second strike and I really think it was a combination of two things, high primer and or the light firing pin spring Deak uses in his Springfield.

Other than those two incidents I've encountered no problems what so ever either with seating them or ignition. I know a lot of you guys change springs and race out your guns and are particular about sensitivity but I don't deal with those scenarios. All my guns are stock with springs only being changed when the weaken and then changed out with like poundage.

To be honest I don't care what kind of powder I use, if I ever run out of pistol powders I'll adapt a rifle powder to get lead down range until I can locate something better and I really don't care what primer I use... if it's cheap and it works then I'm cramming it into a primer pocket. when I used to work up sniper loads for work all that stuff made a difference... now, if my pistols will hit steel at a hundred I don't care what combination of components I use. (Of course it's more fun doing it with black powder.)

So, that's been my experience with Wolf so far. I was worried about them due to the various complaints I read but so far so good. Of course the bricks I have left may all be duds... then I'll take up archery.

I've been hesitant to try them. All I've used so far is CCI. There was a post several months ago, either here or on the BE forum from someone saying he'd gotten a bad batch from Wolf with no anvils, was was basically stuck because Wolf said send them back to us and we'll see about replacing them, but as a hazardous material, he couldn't ship them. I don't remember how it turned out.

I was going to break down and buy the wolf primers. My assumption is with the U.S. dollar dropping wolf primers are going to go up in price.:steamed:
However Graf's had CCI PRIMER 550 SMALL PISTOL MAG 5000/cs ($109 per 5 K) cheaper and in stock. So I went whole hog with them. 30 K on the way. $22.50 a K at my door price. Much better than the last 10K at $37 a K at my door.:faint:

I have a buddy that shoots USPA matches and uses Wolf primers exclusively. He's burned through 2 cases or more of them with no problems. Of course... he loads all HIS ammo on a BLUE press... LOL
