I finally gave in to the pressure and desire, and joined the 1911 club this morning.

By far the most beautiful pistol I have ever owned. The work done on this by Brian at
http://www.ottgunworks.com/ is fantastic. I can not remember all the exact specs on the grips, slide release, trigger job, etc., so I have asked the Original owner to send them to me. When I get the info I will post that up.

I am quite excited right now!!!!

I have always been a Glock guy, so you will have to tell me what this is!!

Thanks,

Your pistol came with a Full Length Guide Rod. If you lock the slide to the rear, you'll see the guide rod sticking out, at the bottom of the barrel. A GI style recoil spring doesn't have this rod on there, therefore doesn't show the rod, if the slide is lock to the rear.

Ultimately, a lot easier to field strip a GI style.

Thanks for your info. Is there a preferred guide rod that is better than the rest? Any links or info one the best place to purchase?

Thanks for everyone's help.

Let just say a heck of a lot of people, and top custom and semi-custom builders have GI guide rods in their 1911s.

Brownells.com is a good source to look.

I'm still a 1911 noob. My Dan Wesson CBOB came with (made that way from the factory) guts from Ed Brown. Like he said above, Brownells has everything you need.
