Had it back for awhile, just got around to taking pics.
Put about 300 rounds through it so far. Tack driver and easy to fast. I really like the front sight, they used a big gold bead.
Been using Checkmate G.I. spec mags. Feeds ball, WWB JHPs and PDX-1s with out a hitch.

Nice! Congratulations.

Yep. The fit was nice from the factory, but when I got it back, it had zero play, the rails were lowered just a teeny bit.

I'da chunked it all the way back to Illinois from South Texas and yelled loud enough that they could have heard me from all the way down here.
Looks nice! That sure is a big front sight. :)

I measured it when I got it, it's only .115 or .118 wide, I can't remember. The bead is big though. I like it, it's very fast with the wide notch rear.

That is a very good looking, all business, 1911.
You, and Springfield, did a good job!
Took a 2nd look just now...and I like it even better than the 1st time!

I'm gonna shoot IDPA with it tomorrow (if I can make it).
I just got my reciepts out, I have about $1,780 tied up in this one.
Same as a Baer P-II, but the Springer feels much better in the hand and is spec'd out just like I wanted. And it fits in my holsters.

lol! yeah, im about to have almost that much tied up in my GI, but, like you said, its just the way you want it. nice looking 1911. what do you think about the standard carry bevel? can you tell a good difference? do they bevel the bottom outside edges of the slide? thanks!
It looks like the front and rear edges are beveled and the bottom of the slide is dehorned. It looks good, not melted looking at all.
I shot an IDPA match with it this morning (used WWB)and it performed flawlessly, not one issue. Even locked back every time I ran it dry. I watched 2 Glock 34s stovepipe on factory ammo:supergrin:

Nice Sam, you gave me inspiration to not go with my original plan to put FCS on my GI and just get it tuned up instead :)
I need to not look at pics like this. Too tempting to upgrade my GI. But man, they do clean up nice.
Very nice.

So in IDPA what kind of magazines do you run? 8 or 10 round?

I ran 7 round Checkmate hybrids (no magwell or basepads) with standard weight springs. Makes for some funny timing on reloads.

picked my gi up this past monday. setting up a trip to sa custom shop now. shot it again today. brass pounding me in the head like a damn woodpecker pecking on me. lol. i added up my options on the build sheet and we're gonna have about the same tied up.
i noticed you added some colt parts, why?

I already had the MSH and safety. The custom shop will put a MSH without the lock in if you want.
This is the rig I used today. Old leather. Pretty slow compared to kydex.

That looks really nice. Personally I have always liked the feel of the arched MSH. They just fit me better. Beautiful pistol. I'm sure that she will serve you well.
