In the past,i've only seen 45acp brass with SP primers in NT brass only. At my time at the range,I picked up some Blazer brass that had SP primers in them.

So is the trend for the 45acp,SP primers?

Sure hope so. I find my 45 ACP loads shoot better with SP. I recently retired all my 45 ACP brass (along with 2.5K LP) to a box for the time things get tight. I have about 1K rounds in LP to shoot off. I've put up about 2K Speer and Federal 45 ACP in SP. Nice not having to switch out primer systems. Nice also to only have to stock one size of pistol primer (well, I do need a few mag primers for the 357mag rounds).

I don't think that the SP is going to take over the 45 ACP corner anytime soon. I've got abit of the NT stuff in 45 ACP and have never even seen a fired round of 45 ACP Blazer on the ranges I shoot.

The first is a big deal for some LEO ranges and the second is just not real common IMHO. Most guys that I see buy Blazer are going to buy the cheap aluminum stuff.

As long as I am far enough away from Jack that he can't hit me with his walking stick....

I hope so.
One primer size would make life easier.

I use the SPP 45 now also. Works fine. I am careful to try to pick up all of it when at the range. I wouldn't want someone to pick it up and mess up their reloading mojo:supergrin:

What headstamps have you encountered that use the SP?

Finding a piece of brass laying on the ground at our range is rarer than finding a virgin on a troop train... it simply doesn't exist.

Am I interested in loading SP .45? No, but I can see where some people would. I don't change primer assemblies on my machines so that's not an issue for me.

I still have more .45 brass than I could ever load in my lifetime so that's not an issue either.

Alway going to need LPP for the .44's and .45 Colt so it really makes no difference what I order, they all come on the same truck. (I just hope they don't leave them downstairs.)

As an aside, if I was ever in the vicinity and saw Shotgunred reaching for a SPP .45 I would assert my rights under the 'Senior Citizens Get Whatever They Want' act, strike him solidly, and repeatedly with my trusty walking stick and at that moment begin my collection of those elusive little pieces of brass.

Never screw with someone who has nothing to lose.

I hope this has clarified my position on SPP .45 brass.

NT is of the Devil.

Not all 45 ACP SP is NT. In fact none of my Speer SP brass has NT on it.

Obama seemed like a good idea to some people too.

Well, I'll take improved accuracy over obummer any day.

To answer the OP's original question. No.

Unless there ever becomes a huge price differential between LP and SP primers, what's the incentive?

The average Joe won't see any difference in performance, so why bother to change?

obama should have a cash for LP program. All LP brass can be turned in for a credit towards the purchase of ne SP brass. Any caliber will do. I see no need for LP anything.

All the SP NT brass in 45 I have goes into the bucket to the scrap yard. I have no use for it!

Let me be the first to ask how much you want for them?

I get $1.75 lb at the scrap yard.

Why don't you put a sign on the door downstairs too let the new drivers know too leave the packages upstairs?

I will gladly get one of the largest USPS flat rate boxes I can buy and send it to you to fill with all that extra brass with my name in the address and all you have to do is give it back to the US postal service.

are GIAOJack and i the only ones who don't change out the primer doodad on our lnls when changing between lpp & spp?
i've been loading 9mm this week and i noticed some didn't seat all the way(took an extra pull)and it made me think maybe i should swap out fixtures.
it works, just a few hiccups in 150 rounds.

I'm very much tempted to do that, I need some excitement in my life so I would enjoy watching the fight between you and the SIL when you try to take part of his inheritance.

Mikey:

I don't change primer punches because I just leave each machine set up for its own size. Changing primer sizes on a LNL is si quick it's really no big deal.

Jack shouldn't you be putting the new bullet feeder through its paces?
Or are you waiting on the Steves to go up and pull the handles for you?

I'd love to, I've been casting everyday for the last week but now they're not shipping the things till after the first of the year!

Don't they know I don't buy green bananas... what if my oxygen runs out before then! :psycho:
