Back in the summer I picked up a Kimber Ultra Carry II with intentions of it being my winter CCW. I've put less than 50 rounds through it since buying it, but have come to realize I won't put my 35 year young SW 37 down for CC. I just came across a possible chance to trade it off for a Colt 5" stainless MKIV series 80. I do have a 1991A1 4.25" that has become my favorite range toy. With my hesitation on swapping the Kimber over my J frame for CC has me thinking of moving the Kimber. Now this is something I don't have to do, and may not, just looking for some opinions on the trade. Regards.

I don't know much about the Ultra Carry II as I don't care much for anything smaller than a Commander. That said if you can live with the series 80. I'd go ahead a swap it.

A Colt will always command value.
Even if it is a lowly series 80.

I would keep the Kimber.. trading for the Colt aint that much of an upgrade..

always. but hey, i never cared for anything smaller than 4in until i bought a new agent. and it's a very good gun. replaced a m85 2in snubbie.
but i'm done selling guns. even if they don't run (kimber). i'll just get it fixed. everytime i sell one, sooner or later i regret it.

I got rid of an Ultra Carry II to get the same thing with a one-inch longer barrel. I personally would make that trade depending on the condition of the Colt.

I will save you some time though and tell you how this will end: The rest of the anti-Colt/Kimber crowd will be here soon to force the TRP kool-aid on you and/or tell you about their awesome Made in Philippines guns.

I happen to be pretty fond of my lowly series 80.

I just realized that was his original quote. All I know, is that my series 80 isn't very lowly.

I'm a Kimber lover, but I'm not partial to the small frames of any 1911. Doesn't make anything wrong with 'em. Just not my thing.

In this case I am inclided to make the trade to the Colt to get a full size for that reason. It could easily be a project gun.

Tell us how it works out.

nope. very nice looking gun. you won't hear me bashing on colts to much. except maybe the da series, or that xse crap. not my style. if i've never slammed anyone's glock, you can bet the farm i won't say anything bad about a 1911. :)

Nice gun. I'd take it in a chicken's heartbeat. Quack will have a brace of Les Baers before I ever own another Kimber.

TAKE THE COLT. Kimbers are a dime a dozen. Colt does command value and everyone knows Colt.
