Hi, new to me my first Glock a gen 2 19. I believe low rounds fired, box,two original mags. I do not know anything of its past other than the man I got it from has had it for 12 years. My pictures are poor, but does this need the upgrade? Do you think this is a low round pistol, or one that has been refurbed by Glock. Serial number is NL7xxUS. It still has copper colored antiseize on the rear slide. Other than a general clean, and lube anything I should do before firing? Let me know what you think as I know next to nothing of Glocks.

From the pics it looks like the upgrades were never done. Do yourself a favor and buy the parts needed for the upgrade and save the original black parts if you sell it later.

the guide rod and spring looks aftermarket and it's dirty lol

Guide rod and recoil spring are Glock, not aftermarket.

Would saving the original parts that were replaced in the upgrade affect the value of this pistol if sold? The gen 2 19 Glocks were made in large quantity, so this is not a rare pistol, does it have value beyond as a shooter? Since it has not had the upgrade done I have to assume it has not been back to Glock, so it is in original condition, not refurbed?

It is a rare pistol since it is in original condition, with original box and, presumably, original mags. It is over 20 years old. It has not been upgraded. To collector like me, this is a prime example to add to the collection. To the other 99.9% of the Glock world, it is just another Glock 19 that happens to be old.

2nd Gen G19s were made for 10 years. 2nd Gen G19s that had black internals were only made for about 2 years.

The question about how much more valuable the Glock is over another G19 is only valid to a collector. I'd be more than happy to send you a brand new G19 in trade for yours if you feel the need to have it upgraded and the like or even buy the black internals.

Bottom line is: yes, it is original and has not been back to Glock for refurb. If it had, the black internals would have been upgraded and discarded. Keep in mind that your pics are bad, so there is a slight possibility that the flash and fouling are making parts look black.

I had to know for sure. I disassembled the slide, and cleaned it using q-tips to reach into the plunger channels. I found a picture of what the replaced parts look like, and the parts are original to the pistol, it has not been upgraded.

2nd Gen 19, the best choice anyone could make! I love the one I have.
