Gents, I have a couple of quick questions regarding the STI Trojan. I can't take my eyes off of her, and I am already thinking purchasing her instead of the Spartan. First of all, what are the major differences between the Spartan and Trojan besides the fact that the Trojan is made in America? Also, why was the stainless steel Trojan discontinued? Were there any problems, bugs, or issues with her to cause her discontinuation? Thanks once again for the help.

I did so brother, but I still can't decipher what makes the Trojan almost $400.00 more than the Spartan.

Ramped barrel, US made slide and Frame, blued finish and checkered front strap...

I went, Spartan for my 9mm IDPA ESP gun... the extra $400, wasn't worth it for my purposes.

Made in US, ALL STI, Front Strap Checkering, Better Fit and Finish. When considering this it easily justifies the money. I have a Spartan and am happy with it, but im definitely getting rid of it for a Trojan. Best 1911 out their till you get to the good ol TRP at about $1350-1400

They're totally different guns.

The Spartan isn't even built by STI. Its an Armscor gun fitted with STI small parts. Its built on an Armscor frame and slide.

The Trojan is built by STI on an STI frame. Its better fit and finished, has a nicer trigger, better features, its smoother, tighter, more accurate, etc.

Big difference.

Spend the $400 on a reloading press :whistling:

Also, what the hell is the "idiot mark!?"

Its a circular scratch on the frame that happens when people turn the slide stop into the plunger tube, instead of pushing it straight in.

There's plenty of material available on the 1911, that's for sure.

It's old and out of date...similar to a Harley Davidson.
