View Full Version : Got a 9mm Trojan this weekend
Been kicking around for some time and I finally got a 9mm 1911, an STI Trojan. It is very lightly used (I know the owner), though it does have a slight oops mark near the slide stop. No matter, this is going to be a dedicated game gun so it will get some wear. This should be a better option for IDPA over my .40 (giving up one round capacity).
Only mod so far is an an S&A magwell. I plan on getting a fiber front sight and probably a larger mag well.
Here it is. As usual, I am photo inept. :(

Nice. I know some people don't think a 1911 in 9mm is right, but after you shoot one it just feels so good.
Nice ! I really like 9mm 1911s. I should have my Mil-spec back from Chuck Rogers soon .

I am not one of those people. I personally think we honor the ingenuity and spirit of The Prophet when we cram whatever caliber we need into his platform. Here are my 2 9mms:

my Trojan 6" 9mm is i think my favorite 1911 i own.
There is just something about a long slide 1911, and a 9mm 1911... throw that together and its cheating how simple it is to drill out a bulls eye.
9mm 1911's are my thing right now, Its getting my collection attention right now.

That'd be a great gun for static steel, great sight radius.
Someone reminded me of the weight limit of IDPA and USPSA single stack. This gun with the mag well weighs 43.5 oz (43 is the limit). Turns out the grips weight 1.7 ounces, so a quick grip change puts me at 42.5, still pretty close. It's a good think it's flat topped or it would be harder to make weight.
Silly rules. :shakehead:
9mm 1911's are sweet, and so is the Trojan

I love my 9mm Trojan, and I ran into the same problem making weight in IDPA. Mine weighed 43.3 ounces with the Dawson ICE magwell and basepads. I just swapped out the FLGR for a standard length unit.
This gun runs like a top and recoils like a 22...I can't say enough good things about it.
