I just recently purchased a Kimber Aegis Ultra and took it to the range today for the first time. I only ran around 100 rounds through it,75 federal 115gr,25 jhp. It shot very well and is very accurate for a 3in gun. The only problem I had was with the magazines,why can't Kimber make quality mags for their own weapons? It never held open on the last round and I had two fail to feeds! This is pretty upsetting when you pay quite a bit of money and Kimber gives you junk mags. I have a full size Kimber 9mm mag that I use in my RIA Tactical and it does the same thing. The mag that I got with a $450 gun is better than a mag with a $1000+ gun? I guess the search for compact 9mm mags is on the way,any suggestions?

Overall I'm very happy with the gun just not with the mags. The Aegis has a very nice trigger on it and allowed me to shoot very tight groups at 10yds with some cheap ammo. And it's dead sexy.

I purchased an Aegis several years ago when the 3" model was the only one offered. Like you, I've spent some time looking for magazines other than Kimber's Metalform ones, but I've never had any luck finding any that would fit the Aegis and be flush in the mag well.

I got some Chip McCormick mags for my Kimber, and I think that they suck!

I competed for almost ten years using Chip McCormick 10 round mags in two different Kimbers. Flawless! In fact I used one at the range today. Have a couple of eight round mags too. Work just fine.

Thanks guys. I've messed with the mag a little and I'm going back to the range tomorrow to see how she works.
