Any of you gurus tell me what the cut out in a G36 magazine is for?

New G36 picked up today... the cut out is at the top of the mag... thanks

This is a new one to me. I was not able to get through to Glock Inc. Maybe you will have better luck? If they tell you please be sure to post here!
