There's a couple of high quality options... (I'm assuming you're using Windows here...).. All are relatively easy to install, but if you need more help, feel free to ask.

My favorites(in order)
1. Google Chrome - Lot of reasons to like this browser. It's fast, it's light.. and has numerous add-ons that rival Firefox- http://www.google.com/chrome

2. Firefox -- Everything I said about Chrome, except it has a LOT more add ons and extensions. http://www.firefox.com

3. Opera -- I'm not as familiar w/ this one as the other two, but it gets a lot of good marks, but it's not as fast as the other two in my experience. http://www.opera.com

I highly recommend Firefox. It is the most Internet Explorer-like option. It has the most number of add-ons and extensions available.

Download and install it. It will ask if you want it to import IE bookmarks and if you want to make Firefox your default internet browser. Say yes. You can change your default web browser anytime later if you want too.

I have to go with IGF.
Chrome is a little more compatible than Firefox.

If you cannot do something as simple as turning off the popups in Internet Explorer, what makes you think you can handle Firefox any better? :dunno:

according to the info on the net these particular popups if thats what they are, cannot be dumped if one continues to use IE, but as you indicated what do i know? mabye instead of being insulting you could help me with this?

I'm not trying to insult you. There is nothing wrong with not knowing how to do something. I personally, for instance, can not draw anything more sophisticated than a stick figure. But I don't have the illusion that a different pencil or brush will make me a better painter.

If Firefox is what you want, type "firefox.com" and click the "Firefox free download" banner. If you are still lost after that, there is a detailed step-by-step installation walkthough, much better than I could explain.

Make sure your system is *clean* too... be sure you do your antivirus scan from SAFE MODE and see what turns up.

Malwarebytes is another good tool for detecting infections. Be sure you updated it before you scan. You can update when you are in SAFE MODE by choosing SAFE MODE w/ Networking.

Then change your browser if you are *clean*...

Are you sure you're not just hovering over ads embedded in the text? Certain forums and articles I read have the same thing and I get the ad popups in Chrome too. Regardless of that you should still change browsers. Either will import bookmarks and favorites I'm pretty sure. Install both and try them out. I prefer chrome and the wife uses firefox.
