...my Springfield Customshop built Professional inspired PC9112 has arrived.

It is the only one in existence as of today, according to the Custom Shop.

It is built to the exact specifications of the PC9111LR FBI gun, but its chambered in 9mm.

It came with a COA and two generic looking magazines that Deb claims are Metalform. I'm not buying it.

I biched about getting two and she is sending 4 more next week. I'm going to order additional mags tonight but I'm trying to decide which 9mm mags I should get. I prefer the bumper pad style on these mags, but I want something that functions as good as possible.

What is the new hotness for 9mm govt 1911 mags these days?

I have a 6320 and 6280 holsters for duty. I have a Surefire X300 and DG switch waiting to go on.

The pictured holster is a COM paddle and a Hoffners Tactical skeleton mag holder.

Also pictured somewhere down there is the happy family. My P238, EMP and the Pro 9mm.

I am in love.

BA Dude!!!! I would personally recommend Tripp's! They are definitely a little pricey, but they work really well. I have 2 or 3 Wilson's as well and they work good, but have never had a FTF through the Tripps. We are dealers for Tripp and Wilson and price our accessories and gun's pretty reasonably. Shoot me a PM for pricing.

SWEET!!!

I'm planning to get a Custom Shop gun in 9mm, most likely w/o a rail though.

for 9mm mags, it's either the Wilson ETM's (which i use) or the Tripp Cobra mags. Both hold 10rds. the 9rd Springfield/Metalform mags work well too.

lazza@davidsonknives.com

Very nice.

Congrats!

Do you have one of these things yet?

That's the coolest thing I've seen in a long time.

Why did you go with 9mm?

A mixture of ammo cost, lack of muzzle rise and recoil over .45, capacity and to piss off the purists! ahahahaha

Very nice weapon.

But 17 months?!?!?! Geez, I took my Glock 17 home the same day!

And when I put the Glock in Kydex, they chat like it's a family reunion!

Congratulations on a 1 of a kind!

I've taken home Glock 19s, 34s, 26s, 35s, 22s, and 23s home in one day too. =)

I waited because I got this for the LE price, which is a bit lower than MSRP. I would have rather bought one off the shelf but I changed from .45 to 9mm mid order and its a one of a kind.

Per the Custom Shop, they haven't ever sold a PC9111LR in 9mm. Shipwreck has a Customshop 9mm but it has a full rail and it is stainless.

I believe mine is one of a kind at the moment.

What's this like two railed Pros in one week on GT?? Say it isn't so, this forum is getting more practical with their 1911s?

the base pads? they should work on any magazine with the .550" spacing for the screw holes. I've also used them on mags that didn't have holes by drilling holes and using self-tapping screw (included with the pads).

While your handy, what is the big idea with the Custom Shop???

They sent me a generic black non-Springfield box with only the two mags, a COA and NRA propaganda. No manual, no lock, no coupon to buy extra mags, nothing.

Even my $1,200 EMP had a blue Springfield case with a manual.

I picked up some Wilson and Tripps from GT member "The-Fly" to borrow for quals. I'll demo them and see what works best. Deb is sending me 4 more Metalforms.

Did you get a chance to make the comparison? Which worked out the best?

Cochese
11-27-2010, 11:47

Thanks guys. The belt is pretty hefty, but everything on it is necessary. I ditched the pepper spray and ASP. The three cuffs come in handy at least once a month. One fat guy or skinny meth chuck equals two pairs. I don't like keeping the extras in a pocket.

I'm not exactly petite at 6'3"/240 LBS so it works.

The mags all seem to function fine, except I'm having problems with the slide not locking back on an empty mag, but its happened with every make. A lighter recoil spring may solve that.

I don't like the Metalforms for a few reasons. The rounds are a bich to manually strip out if the mag is full because they dive. I also prefer the Wilson and Cobras since they feed rounds at a higher trajectory into the chamber and onto the ramp. I have to go outside and get my targets!

I completely understand this, but I work at a gun shop/range part time on my days off from the fire department, and some of the stuff these guys spew out of their mouths is just unbelievable, and don't get me started on their shooting. :faint:

Little story to give some insight:

A few weeks ago, a nice policewoman who comes in frequently to shoot, (not that she does it good), comes in like always this time of year, "I need to practice for my Quals next week".....

She has an issued Beretta 92FS from a small town dept here locally. After quals last year she let her "boyfriend" clean her gun for her.....

She goes in to shoot and quickly comes back out asking me for help, that her gun won't fire, so I go in to take a look....

Well long story short her boyfriend put the gun back together improperly and she has NO TRIGGER SPRING in her GUN!!!!! :wow:

The manager let me take one out of a new 92FS to put in her gun, and we ordered a spring to replace the one we borrowed from the pistol in stock.

She has carried this gun for almost 12 months on duty, when I ask her what would have happened if you had to use your gun on duty, she starts crying and leaves. I'm sorry but I have no sympathy here......

This was an isolated incident yes, but things like this, we see them at the range all the time.

I have quite a few LEO friends who are gun guys and can shoot, but most of the uniformed guys that come into our shop shouldn't be handling a firearm on the street.

At least once a month an LEO points a loaded gun at me telling me it's unloaded when I ask/remind them to lock the slide back, low and behold when they do a round comes flying out....

Anyways, rant over, again nice shooting and congrats on a fine pistol. You deserve it.

Thanks for your service..... :patriot:

It's so refreshing to see a LEO than can shoot!!

+1.

Lawdog can shoot well too.

but as Cochese said some treat guns as tool others are gun enthusiasts.

It helps that I've won a GSSF match or two in my day.

I'd like to shoot my 1911 competatively as well. Would that be IDPA or IPSC or something like that?

That's just inexcusable. Geeze!

Man, she couldn't have even tried dry firing the thing even 1 time - or she would have noticed this. Plus, ya gotta oil the rails more than 1x a year if you expect the gun to work. Wow.

Wow, congrats!

Yes, this is the only other railed 9mm 1911 I have seen from the Custom Shop (besides mine). Mine does have the full rail, instead of the slightly shorter rail of the Pro.

I never did ask the Custom Shop, but I imagine that mine is either the only 9mm full rail, or one of just a handful ever done. Not everyone is on the internet on gun forums (I will admit), but I've never seen anyone posting pics or claiming to have one. Only a handful of 9mm Custom Carries ever seem to pop up on the various forums.

Maybe I'll shoot them an email and ask them how many full rail operators they have made in 9mm....

I've had mine for over a year now - I went and shot it this weekend, in fact.

As for mags - the Tripp Cobra mags are my favorite. I find them easier to load than the Springfield mags - the rounds also seem to seat a little better, and ya get 10 rounds instead of 9.

I have my 2 factory Springfield mags (with the tall pads), and then 4 Cobra mags. The Cobra mags aren't cheap, though.

In fact, I plan to order a Cobra mag for my 45 Ed Brown soon, as I have 1 CHip McCormick Power Mag that's giving me problems. I sent it in to the factory once, and instead of replacing the entire mag, CM only replaced the internals. But, I think the mag body is out of spec, as the follower keeps getting stuck in the mag body. Tripp mags are super sweet, so instead of messing with the Chip mag anymore, I'm tossing it and will get a 45 Cobra mag....

Gotcha. (ETA link in the above post)

That's the way they come. I called when I got mine - I was surprised to see the black case too. I was told that this is what they send all their custom shop guns in (I spoke to Deb). I did request that they send me the Loaded Coupon, and they did. I was told that I could use it to get 9mm 1911 mags - although, I never did.

Per the Custom Shop, they haven't ever sold a PC9111LR in 9mm. Shipwreck has a Customshop 9mm but it has a full rail and it is stainless.

Actually, mine is hard chromed in matte hard chrome. They don't make the frame in stainless. The Kart barrel is hard chromed too - I had actually ordered a 2nd 9mm 1911 from the Custom Shop last year - a Custom Carry. I had to cancel it earlier this year due to some severe health problems.

Thankfully, I recovered. But, I was told that the 9mm Kart bull barrel barrel has to be finished either in armory coat, NP3 or hard chrome (or Black T or some other finish) as the barrel is "in the white" steel. I was going to have just the barrel on that 1911 done in NP3.

You have a bushing barrel, though. But, I see that it's finished just like the gun as well.

Yes, I am fine now. I actually had a severe, severe withdrawl problem from Lunesta (the sleep aid). No one knew what the problems were for quite some time, and it was over 2.5 months before I was back to normal. The entire experience was very scary. I saw 5-6 different doctors and had all sorts of tests. I am so glad I am fine now, but I appreciate the thoughts. It looked like the issues were gonna be permanent for a while.

Same here. I guess I do not know what to expect but I thought it would be nicer. Not that I really care as they just sit in the top of my closet except for my Guncrafter Industries Bag which has become a range back when I do not want to carry my full size range bag.

Also I have both the new style ETMs and the old style. Both styles have worked well in the 4 9mm 1911s I have tried them in. I do not like the Springfield mags very much.

I sent the custom shop an email asking how many 9mm full railed operators they have made. I know they shut down for part of December for the holidays - so not sure if they already left or not...

So, did you solve your issue of the mags not locking the slide back yet?

What poundage recoil spring did it come with? Mine came with a 9lb one, but they also put a wilson buffer pad on my guiderod (which I've left)

Got a response, but not a real answer, from Deb... Oh well :P

As I haven't seen a full railed 9mm Operator posted by anyone yet (but admit that many people are not on gun forums), I gotta assume that I likely have 1 of maybe a handful... Who knows...

Our shop constantly builds custom pistols, in many of the popular 1911-A1 calibers including 9mm. Since each pistol is built on a per order basis to meet the individual customer’s needs and wants, they are almost all one-of-a-kind handguns. They may start out to be similar to something they have seen from our shop, or another custom shop, but end up being exactly matched to the individual customer.
