View Full Version : Picking up a Trojan, want to refinish
Im picking up another GT'ers Trojan. I am already thinking about having it refinished. Is the factory by far the best way to go on that, and do they do that? Anything else worth doing while its back at the factory?
Thanks for your help. This is my first post in the 1911 part of the forum.
I wouldn't go to the factory for that.
What finish are you looking for?
SS, like the one you have
That's hard chrome, my friend. :)
STI doesn't do it in house anyway. They ship their pistols out for that. I'm not sure who does it for them, but someone may know.
Robar NP3+ or HC would be my suggestions.

You don't have to go to the factory.
Hard Chrome and Black Nickel are my favorites right now

Does the gun have any damages beyond the finish? Nicks? Scratches? Will you be removing the old finish yourself?

I also love NP3, though I've never seen NP3+ in person.

Its a standard Trojan with a slight idiot scratch. I would want a durable finish.
I know a working gun gets scratched, but t=it doesn't hurt to have a working gun that also looks great.
It looks like hard Chrome is what I want. Bac's was my inspiration.
Does anyone know if that voids any warranty or anything like that?
I will not be removing the old finish myself, as I have no idea how to.
Cerakote is a pretty cool finish!! We do it in house and it looks pretty good. Im going to be doing my Spartan in the next couple of days, I'll post some pics after its complete

I believe they do the chroming for Nighthawk and my two models have some of the nicest hard chroming I've seen.
