I have a 1911 Kimber custom eclipse 11. Stainless with brushed look. Only marks on it is where the person before me removed the slide. The scratch isn't that large and can't be felt even with fingernail. How can i polish this out without taking the brushed look away. Thanks.

some gun oil and a green Scotch-brite pad.
go with the grain and don't press down to hard.

I used to have an Eclipse, and mine had the scratch as well. The scotch bright pad that Quack mentioned will work to remove the scratch, but it will leave the area looking different than the rest of the frame/slide. Kimber creates the eclipse by first finishing it in some type of Black and then polishes it off leaving traces of the black in the grain of the metal. Once it is scratched, or polished it just looks like stainless steel.

If you do this, you'll be left with something that looks worse than that scratch.

ahhhh...didn't know that the Eclipse was one of the black SS guns. in that case, the 2 posts above are correct.

If you shoot it, leave it. It is a tool that shoots projectiles.
If you hang it up on the wall, have it bead blasted. It is a piece of industrial art.

I would have to differ on that, I just picked up this Eclipse that had a crap load of scratches and went with the grain with a green scotchbrite then finished it off with a white one, it looks alot better than it did but none of you guys saw it before...:whistling:
