How do I opwn windows without having to choose a user ?

hmmm.... I don't know.

Why would you want to do this? Is here a perceived advantage to this?

I am the only one in the house and I would like to press the on button and have the computer boot up and be ready to go. I have seen other people computers do this?

Go to Control Panel>User Accounts

It varies a little with the version of Windows, but you should have an option to change the way users log on and off. Remove the check that requires a username and password to log on.

Start - Run - type in "Control Userpasswords2" minus the quotes and click OK. Uncheck the box that says "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer." ... Apply - OK
