After putting approx. 300 rounds downrange, I've come to the conclusion that .45GAP in that small of a package is too much for me to handle. It's a great size for CC, but it packs a wallop. I think .45GAP is a great round and maybe a G38 or G37 will be in my future. For anyone who is interested, here is the link to buy my G39.

Is it the recoil you find harsh?

Sorry to hear that. Have you considered some extra weight in the backstrap? Perhaps a Seatle Slug?

Yeah, only being able to get two fingers on the grip is not enough for me to be able to get off a fast second shot. I don't feel like I have sufficient control over the weapon.

What is a Seatle slug?

It's a weighted plug that goes into the cavity of the backstrap.

Can you use a GAP floorplate on the mag? I found that really improves my grip on a G26, which IIRC is the same size as your G39.

Good news, I see that they make them for the G39. It totally transforms the grip. Check out other comments on the GAPs in GT. Seems funny to gave GAP floorplates on a GAP model

I use a GAP floorplate, and a G38 barrel that I had muzzle ports cut into.

I find this configuration to be optimal. I get the concealment of a subcompact, but it recoils (mostly) like a compact.

Interesting combo. I have thought about this in the past and wondered if it would conceal and feel the same are the stock subcompact version.

Do you notice any difference in size? or any difference at all when it comes to carry?

I have to say... did you try buying a pair of Pearce +0 grip extensions for like $9? It makes a world of difference in any subcompact to be able to get a full grip.

I did have GAP floor plates on it. The Pearce extension would have made the grip longer and I wanted it to work without adding length to the grip. Anyway, I sold it on gunbroker.com for $465 shipped. Anyone want to buy some odds and ends?

10-round magazine (used for less than a month) - $20 shipped

Extended slide release - $7 shipped

1 box of American Eagle 185gr .45GAP FMJ (50 rounds) - $23 shipped

1 box of Speer Gold Dot 185gr .45GAP (50 rounds) - $30 shipped

PM me.

No difference when concealing. The barrel is about 1/2" longer, but that's the easy part to conceal.

Draw is pretty much the same. with my full-sized G17, I notice a significantly longer draw process due to the longer slide/barrel. I don't really notice much difference with just the longer barrel - probably because it's both shorter than the full-size, and because it's just the barrel, so I can start rotating forward at the same time as a subcompact, and because I continue with an upward motion, the barrel clears the holster w/out a problem.
